go to a vet by: Anonymous
Whenever you have a problem with an animal that you cannot immediately clearly and properly diagnose run don't walk to a reputable vet that has been recommended to you. You don't know what is wrong with your dog. You love your dog. Go to a vet. Even if it costs what it costs. If the problem is insignificant, it will be money well spent. I'm not a vet. I'm a retired lawyer with 4 cats and the best darn dog in the world and, please believe me, a good vet is your animal's best friend, next to you of course.

Try this... by: Anonymous
You should definitely check with your vet, it could be signs of a more serious problem, especially since it's red rather than brown. Your vet can prescribe something or flush out the pup's tear ducts. Another thing it could be is a food allergy. I switched my poodle Anna to Solid Gold food and her stains improved a lot... try to find a brand of food that doesn't use artificial coloring and fillers. Hope you resolve this!

would love to see a pic by: MisabellasMommy
I got Tylan powder from the vet - it is what is in Angel Eyes and it is an antibiotic that kills whatever bugs are in the intestines that cause that red stains - it works in like 2 weeks - a pinch inthe food - filtered water is good - since your other dog is big - put his water UP so little miss or mister cannot reach and get her/his water to go under something he cannot reach - I put my maltese's water bowl under a coffee table - they know where their water bowl is so no fear they'll go thirsty! It works - they need filtered water during this and my baby has no more red tears! see her on this site...

Filter your water. by: Anonymous
I have a Maltese, we used to have a problem with red staining from his tears. My husband bought a water filter for our kitchen tap, and I started giving him filtered water only. The staining cleared up 100%.

Puppy eye stain by: Susan
Michaeline,
I have a 7 month old Morkie who I was having the same problem with. I opted not to use Angel Eyes as I prefer to not put additives in her food. I use pads that I get from Dr Foster and Smith and I wipe her eyes morning and night. I also wipe her whole face after she eats. It helps alot. I had severak people tell me giving your puppy distilled water will take the stains away too. I would try that but she shares her water with her 85 pound "brother", I would go broke buying water for him. I do use Woolite mixed with water when I give her a bath and it makes her really white, but am leary about using it around her eyes. Good luck, I know it's frustrating.
