Bad Morkie - Bear

by Laurel Morgart
(Bedford, PA )

My Morkie is 14 weeks old, does not listen, finding it hard to train and I am home 24/7 with him. He is the dominate and pee pooh in the house even if he did it just then outside. He barks aggressive, bites not putty bite but Bites. I watch the Dog Whisperer and I have tried all he does on his show.

I got him from friends that breed their Yorkie and this time they wanted a Morkie. He was the only one in his litter. I am planning to find me a dog trainer in my area to help me. He is blocked off in the kitchen due to he goes potty every 5 minutes inside. I timed him. He hold it for 8 hours at night in his sleep cage.

I would not get another Morkie, I had a Spitz Mix and a Sheltie and both were so easy to train. This is the hardest dog I even had to train. He rides feet too and He will be getting Fixed Jan. 2nd. Maybe that will help in his bad behaviors. He also does not like held. No cuddle either. We have had him around other dogs and he dominates them too.

Any Suggestions...email me at

Morkie?
by: Anonymous

I agree with the other comments. I do not think you have a Morkie, espeically if it sheds. I have a female Morkie and she was easy to potty train with pee pads and treats. They do use 2 pee pads as they don't like to pee and poop on the same one. Belle can try to be dominant but I set her straight. We use patience and praise and treats and she just turned a year old and is doing really good. They do have an attitude, especially if the mother was the Yorkie, just don't give into it. Belle was a biter too at first. I grabbed her by the hair of her little beard and said no bite. She still thinks she can bite when she is playing on my bed. I would not trade her for anything and am planning on getting another soon. I would make sure your little boy doesn't have a urinary infection and I think having him neutered will help but I would still get a DNA test at like a Petco and make sure what kind of dog you really have. Sounds to me like your pup is picking up on your anger and agression with him, that makes them react that way. Try being really patient and calm when talking to him and put him on the pee pads about every 15 mins. if you have to. If he goes, use praise and treats. They respond better to praise than anger. Good luck with training, and just another note. There is another site called Yorkie Talk and they are very against using Cesar's Dog whisper training.

morkies do not shed and maybe you should have researched the type of puppy you were getting.

Sure it's a Morkie?
by: Anonymous

Some parts of your discription don't sound like a Morkie. Morkies do not shed. I have heard that males are harder to train then females but do you use positive potty training or do you punish? I trained my Morkie in 3 weeks with pee pads and positive rewards (potty treats) She does use 2 pads, one for peeing and 1 for poop).
My Morkie does bite sometimes when playing but we just shake her by the back of the neck like her mother would do and tell her no bite, she's getting much better. I would have the Morkie checked to make sure there is no urinary infection that would make him pee all the time. Also, maybe buy a DNA kit from a pet shop and make sure you do have a Morkie, especially with the shedding. I am not an expert but I'd say your household is very stressful right now and dogs pick this up. If they sense a chance to be the dominate one they will. Most of all you are doing right by having him neutered, this could make a big difference. Good luck for both of you.

something is wrong
by: bj

sounds like you have a very abnormal little stinker. i have never heard of these problems with either breed. it may, or may not, be in the training used. seek professional help or find a new home for the pup. both of you are miserable like it is. :(
