Free Maltese from Breeder

I have a 10 year old Maltese named Sugar. She was given to me by a co-worker. My co-worker went to a breeder to purchase a Maltese puppy. The breeder offered her Sugar for free because she was "Useless". I am assuming because she could not be breed anymore??

She was 6 when she was given to my co-worker and had heart worms, she was treated and came out fine, my co-worker had to move into an apartment and they would only allow 2 dogs and she had 3 so Lucky me I got Sugar... I knew nothing about the Maltese breed. But I took one look at her and fell in LOVE. My husband was against getting a dog, but told me I could bring her home for the weekend for a "trial" to meet her and see how she fit in. That was over 2 years ago and is still with us! I got her spayed and caught up on her shots and she has been a blessing!

We have since purchased her a little Maltese "brother" Spike but it's more like she is his mother! She has taken care of him from day one... he was 9 weeks old when we got him and they get along great! They both have beds but still sleep together. we purchased him from an individual and has only breed her female twice and doesn't plan on breeding her again. I saw her poster at the vets ofice. He is great company for her.

He has been a challenge for me as I have never potty trained since she was trained when I got her. But he is 7 months old now and is potty trained and is the typical little "boy" He was neutered last month so I'm hoping he settles a little. But he is a good boy and very smart. I think we are going to have a couple of his baby teeth pulled because he has two sets in the bottom, I didn't know this could happen?

In the picture he was 4 months old, but now he is the same size as her. Both my Maltese are about 5 1/2 pounds.
