Malchi Puppies - Oscar

I have one of the best 5 month old Malchi puppies Oscar. He is adorable as you would imagine.
I am trying to train him on the leash, but doesn't seem to like it at all. He is quite frightened on walks and would rather be carried. I suppose this could be one of their characteristics being so small. Should I push on with trying or is it just who he is?
My Malchi puppy gets on quite well with other dogs and loves people of all sizes - small children and adults. He weighs around 8lbs or 4 kilos, and has an horrendous appetite. Will eat anything any time. Is this normal?
