Maltese Bichon Mix - Casey

by Marilyn
(Alexandria, VA)

Our Maltese Bichon mix Casey has the best disposition of any dog I have had. We got him from DC Dogfinders and live in Alexandria, VA.

He is 8 months old and has a lot of energy. That's one of my questions to other Maltichon owners out there. Will he ever calm down. I walk him miles a day and he plays very well with other dogs for hours at a time. Please tell me he will eventually become a lap dog. He is either moving or chewing his toys. I don't think I have ever seen him sleep although at night all is quiet in the playroom.

The second question pertains to his car sickness. Poor baby. He throws up if he is driving more than 10 minutes so he doesn't like going in the car. Any suggestions for this. I am hoping he outgrows it.

If there are any Maltichon owners who want to email me privately please do. Mariprette@aol.com. Thank you, Marilyn

Regarding Casey's car ride issues, our Maltichon also gets sick very quickly in the car. The only thing we can do when traveling hours to family members is to put him in a well padded crate with his toys. It seems like when his movement is restricted and he isn't looking out of the window that helps.
Also, "Romeo" loves his toys (has chewed a couple of things he shouldn't have- XBOX earpiece, eyeglass temple covers, and computer cord). He has an oral fixation and when he wakes up he will put a toy in his mouth before greeting us. His favorite toys are: a really soft long blue rubber dog, a six legged fabric "flea", the squishly small fabric splash balls (made for throwing when they get wet), and small stuffed toys.
Casey will probably start settling down soon, as I have noticed that Romeo- age two- is still playful, but has more down time now.
Hope this helps- good luck- and let your dog know what is expected...they are really smart and are always willing to please.
