Maltese Papillon - Roxie Love

My little Angel

Roxie is the most amazing Maltese Papillon dog! She is so loyal and wonderful and full of energy all of the time. She will be 4 on the 22nd of February. I got her when she was 6 weeks old and have loved every second.

The only problem I have with this breed is the mixture between the Maltese coat and the Papillon coat. I owned a Papillon for 14 years and never had a matting issue but with Roxie it is horrible. I brush her all the time but it doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas? I wouldn't trade her for the world though!

I have a maltese and I keep her in a puppy cut. She doesn't have problems.

I see that you are from Wichita. Where did you find a Papitese in Wichita? I've been looking for one.

Dear Roxie Love, you are a Love indeed! We are pure Maltese and we wish we had tips for the tangled hair but we don't... all we know is that in the summer we love to get our hair shaved off it's so liberating! I use Pantene for curly hair shampoo and conditioner. Believe it or not it does not mat!!!. Also do not use collars on them unless you are going out. Have fun!

I have a Maltese and a Maltese/Pappillon mix. Due to the type of fur(hair) of the "mix" or Papitese, I leave her coat long. I keep the Maltese in the puppy cut which does help. I brush both twice a day (min) with a wire brush and cut out the small patches that matt. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with my Rosie. She is 4 also. I gave up and keep her in a puppy cut.
