Maltese Westie Mix - Penny

by Susi Braehler
(Frankston, Victoria, Australia)

Penny is such a lovely little Maltese Westie mix girl. My Husband and I adopted her from the Animal Aide Pound. She was handed in as a stray and came from a Puppy Mill. She was badly undernourished, had two loose top teeth, which the vets had to remove, skin so black and fur that was a mess. She also had a broken rib that heeled itself but crookedly.

She is believed to be anywhere from 8 years old to 12? And she was in the pound for a few months as no one wanted her.

When my Husband Mark, and I saw her, we fell in love straight away and couldn't wait to adopt her and give her a loving home that she so much deserved.

Four months later and our Maltese Westie is the love of our life. Penny loves her new name, she loves us and especially loves her fur brothers and sister. She has such a sweet temperament, considering all she has been through. And now that she is much healthier her fur is coming back in nice and white with a bit of coarseness to it like a Westies is.

She doesn't bark, only a little now and then when she hears people coming to the door, so she is a good watchdog. She loves to be cuddled and loved.

She was scared stiff when we first took her to the dog park, running and hiding behind us, but now she loves it and goes right up to the other dogs to say hello. You should see Penny run..!! Its soo cute. She can almost run as fast as Sheba, our Siberian Husky, only Penny has troubles stopping, and will brake too early and then tumble head over heels and rolls to a stop. She then looks up as if wondering what on earth just happened lol.!!

She is so cute when she walks too, she picks up her paws as if she is wearing stiletto heels. lol..!!! She was very fast at learning to be house trained and to come, sit, and walk on a lead and off lead.

I love this Maltese Westie dog breed, and especially this particular little girl. She gives the sweetest little kisses and is always a few feet away from side. She is so devoted. I'm so proud to be her furmummy.!

Beautiful
by: Samantha

Love your little girl and good on you and your husband for adopting this precious girl. How awful that a dog so sweet had to go through such an awful life, until you rescued her.
