by: Little Miss Muffit

My Muffit (Morkie) sleeps with me, too, and has since I brought her home at 8 wks. She has never soiled the bed, thank goodness. From the day she came home I bought a cat box and put newspaper in it. She used it. When she graduated from her playpen, she went to staying in her kennel when not under my direct supervision and accepted it. She had her cat box and paper/potty pads and was good about using them, but she goes outside fine, too. When staying in motels, that potty pad is worth it's weight in gold! When she got a little older just about 9 mos. she went through a rebellious streak (teenager?) and would go near the pad, but not always on it. Had to retrain her by rewarding her everytime she used the pad and giving her a lot of praise. That got her right back on track. So try potty pads. Muffit didn't need the cat box for long; she uses the potty pads. These little dogs are very independent and like to be the boss. You really have to learn to be a pack leader and treat them like a dog, not a human. Spoiled little dogs aren't much fun. But a calm, submissive little dog is a joy! And Muffit has plenty of spunk and silliness and cuteness despite knowing who is the boss.
