To Lexi's owner
by: Anonymous

Hi, This is for the person from Michigan getting the puppy Lexi. To answer your question about potty training:
I too was very nervous about potty training. I had considered litter training vs/outdoor because of the weather. We have a cat also, so I always have litter.
My sister in law that breeds and raises the Morkies, Lasa Apso, and Golden Retreivers was a help. I also researched a LOT. I decided to outdoor train. I made sure that I got my puppy in the summer to start training. She was very easy. Now that it is winter, She still goes outside, and is very quick about her business.
I waited to get her untill she was 11 weeks old.
All the articles I read about the yorkie, and maltese told me that these small dogs should't leave the mom untill 12 weeks. I read one article about litter training. I think it would be fine. It didn't apply to our situation. I am not sure that an 8 week puppy should be outside, because of lack of immunization. I would suggest asking a vet! Daphne was born in Feb. We got her in May. We had a lot of time to potty train outside. She is now almost 10 mos. old. I wish you all the best with your new puppy!! Morkies are a wonderful, loveable, smart, combination breed! Keep me informed on how she does

Housebreak or Litter Train?
by: Carol

I will be getting a female Morkie, we will name Lexi, this weekend. She is 8 weeks old. I also live in Michigan and we are right in the middle of a blizzard. I am debating on whether to try housebreaking or litter training since the winter gets so bad here. Any suggestions?

Daphne
by: Linda Tessier

Hi again,

I am Daphne's mrs. master. As long as I can remember, I have wanted a Yorkie. I could never afford one. My parents, Also, my Husband never liked small dogs. I have always had German Shepard dogs (when I was younger) After we were married, we have had lots of cats, and w/our children we had Andy, a Black Lab, who was 15 when we had to have him put down. I am an animal lover. I found the Morkies by accident on the internet. Then my sister in law who raises, and breeds Lsa Apsa, Maltese, Yorkie, and Golden Labs decided that she should try breeding her Yorkie w/her Maltese. (Because I wanted a Morkie so bad) She could have had a dozen and sold them !!! She didn't realize how popular they were. She only had 3 puppies, Is going to breed them again. Daphne was a LITTLE difficult to potty train. It took about 6 weeks of faithfully watching her, and making sure she was outside every hour or two. When she got the hang of it, it was just like everything else she does. After she is finished, gets her treats. She acts like a Queen!!!! The treats I buy for her she will do anything for. I get them at pet smart, Vita Life, dried Banana/Chicken wraps. I have to break them in half. Like I said before, Daphne is amazing, and My husband just loves her!!!!!

I am joining the Morkie owner ranks!!!
by: Tiffany Cartier

Daphne,

You are adorable. I write this as I am on the eve of taking my Morkie girl "Tiffany" home tomorrow. I am nervous, but so very anxious. We have a 3 year old black lab who will love having a little sister as well as a 7 year old son who says its okay to have another girl in the house. My husband was on the fence not really liking small dogs, but gave me the greatest gift by his love and support of my dream to originally own a yorkie, but fell in love with this breed.

Okay - how difficult is potty training. Everything I read says I am in for a difficult time and this is the only aspect that makes me concerned. Suggestions????

For the love of Morkies!
by: Kim

Daphne is an absolute doll! She looks like she could be our Buddy's sister!

I, too, have just recently discovered the morkie, and like you, have just fallen in love!

We adopted our "Buddy" in January. He is the best dog I have ever owned. And I never thought I'd say that after owning two beautiful, very well-behaved labrador retrievers for more than 13 years.

Buddy is the most gentle, loving dog I have ever met. He is naturally obedient and also LOVES to play. He is gentle and sweet around the elderly as well as toddlers, almost as if he were able to sense that he can't be too playful with them.

On the other hand, he is equally as energetic and playful with teenagers and young children.

He is so adaptable and easy going. He is everything I have ever wanted in a dog. I am so happy to be the owner of a Morkie. If I were to recommend the perfect dog . . . it would be a Morkie!

Wish I could post a picture! You won't believe how much Daphne and Buddy resemble!

Daphne's First Mom Janine
by: Anonymous

Daphne is a lovable Morkie and she started out as a laid back little pup, and that is what attracted her new mom, Linda, to her. Linda soon found out, what a great personality she had and how much fun she could be. As you might have guessed, I am the breeder who bred Daphne's litter. I never could have guessed how popular these little dogs are becoming. They are wonderful little companions.

To breed or not?
by: Daphne

Hi Lulu and Lolly.

We have noticed that you spend a lot of time checking out the Morkies. I feel honored that you gave me 5 stars!!! My master went to your website WOW (-: I have a question for you. My Mr. Master would like to breed me when I am old enough. Mrs. Master is iffy. Mr. Master says that we should breed back to another Morkie, Mrs. Master says it won't matter if he is a Morkie, Maltese, or Yorkie. Do you have an opinion? IF I have puppies, it WILL only be one liter, then I am off to the vet for spay. I await your opinion. Thanks, Daphne

I first met Daphne at a family get-together
She is adorable and I am not a dog person. But
if I ever got a dog it would be like her. I am
Linda's mother and I guess you could call me
Daphne's grandmother. Haha. I like cats and
she is no bigger than that. The only was I
would want any animal would be if I am left alone.
