Lexie
by: Little Miss Muffit

The can idea is really a good one. And it will work on the overly excited pups, too. Muffit is terrible when people want to meet her--way overly excited! So I'm trying it on that at home, but I'm not sure I want to carry a can with marbles or rocks in it wherever I go. Any suggestions?

morkie advice
by: Anonymous

Hi, I live in Shakopee, MN so I know what you mean about the weather. I have a morkie also (male) and Lexie's personality sounds so much like my Shadow. Can you fill me in a little more on the pop can thing. Also, any advice on the anxiety...he always whines/barks continuously when I leave him the kennel while I go to work, and will also do unnecessary barking while just being around the house. Thanks!

Lexie
by: Little Miss Muffit

Lexie is definitely adorable. Muffit is a Morkie, too. She has a cream-colored coat with gold highlights. I wanted her ears to stand up like a Yorkie because it is so cute! She had one ear up and one ear down. At her haircut appt. I asked them about it, and they trimmed her ears like a Yorkies, and now both ears stand up fine.

I totally agree with the noisy can. It does work!

As for nipping grandkids, teach them to be pack leaders. My grandkids stay with me. When we'd go for walks and strange dogs came towards us, I taught them to stand still and as tall as they could and not look at the dogs. It works great.

As for potty pads vs. outdoors--we had to give Muffit treats when we'd catch her doing her thing on the potty pad as she started thinking "close" was good enough. It worked. She loves getting a treat for whatever she deposits. She also likes to go outside even in the snow. She's happy doing it either way, and it makes traveling with her really nice. We use her potty pads in motel rooms just like home. We love it. So don't give up on them, just teach her how much praise she gets for doing it there.
