Pearl River County Mississippi Humane Society

Did you ever think a traumatic event could have a positive result? After returning back to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and to an empty nest(my youngest had started college in the midst of Hurricane Katrina) I found my newly renovated home beautiful but empty.
I wanted to fill the void and not having a dog in over 30 years, adoption quickly came to mind. I went online and searched the New Orleans area SPCA and surrounding area. Still no luck. I remember the dog I had about 30 years ago was from the Pear River County, Mississippi area. so that's where I searched next. I saw a puppy online and drove about an hr. to see it at the humane society. The dog I ended up adopting is a Maltese Terrier mix.
His name is Ace and was only 4 months old at the time of adoption. He is a beautiful white with long fluffy ears with beige markings at the tips. He has big round black eyes and black button nose. Personality is astounding. Very loyal to me and protective though he is friendly to everyone that gives him a little pat on the back.
My family is very attached to Ace and feel very lucky to have him in our family. This was the positive aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
