Rescued Malchi - Scamp

by DanaRae
(South Carolina)

Scamp is a rescued Malchi dog from a Poodle rescue and we were told her mother was Poodle Maltese and the father Chihuahua. We've yet to see any evidence of Poodle, but can see the Chihuahua and Maltese, in both appearance and personality. Looking at the Malchi pix, I'm pretty sure that's what she is. We got her at nine weeks and have had her six weeks and she's a darling! Loving, affectionate, eager to please. She's about 90% housebroken, usually having accidents only when she and Spook (our 3 year old Eskimo Spitz) are too busy playing for her to remember where "jobs" are done. Otherwise, she squeaks to go out and barks to come in. She's doing well with leash training and "settling" and not begging. She loves lazing in the sun with a stick almost as much as cuddling close, while I read, or laying on my lap, while I'm working at the computer. She's not a "yapper," but will periodically demand holding a discussion with you, if she has an issue . I wasn't sure I'd get over the loss of our 15-1/2 year old mini-Schnauzer, but Scamp has proven to be the healing medicine I needed. Oh, and she has no idea she's not the same size as the 20# Spitz, even though she weighs in at 5#.
