Silkese Gift

Teddy with his favourite toy
A friend of mine has four little Silkese, one of which had a litter of two puppies. Of course I fell in love with them. My husband said it wasn't time to get a new puppy though so I didn't try to change his mind.
One afternoon we were there when friend's granddaughter got into the puppy pen. She is a sweetie but she is too young to handle a puppy only four weeks old. She either dropped the puppy or sat on him, and just as she was running away my friend and I came to the pen door. We scooped up the groggy puppy. My friend was distraught and afraid she had lost him. I calmly took him and nursed him in my lap till he started asking for his mother, then put him with his mother for a feed.
A couple of weeks later I was again at my friend's house, with my husband. I had told him all about the puppy's misadventure. Puppy was even more adorable of course and oh-so-affectionate.
I wondered what my friend and husband were talking about as I cuddled the puppy and rejoiced over his recovery from his mishap.
The upshot of the story is, my friend had given me the puppy and my husband had accepted her gift!
Teddy is now firmly part of our family. No regrets!
