Special Shitzu Mix - CJ

(Indianapolis, IN, USA)

I have MS and wanted a dog that was small enough that I could have on my lap and would not hurt me but that was not so fragile that I had to worry about hurting him. When my Maltese Shitzu mix CJ came into my life, I instantly fell in love. He was a three pounds when I got him and an instant snuggle bug. He knows when I hurt. He is very in tune to how I am doing from day to day. He is also my motivation to stay mobile because I love to take him on walks when I am able.

It is amazing to me to see so much personality in such a little dog. He has a thing for teddy bears. They are bigger than he is, but he loves to sleep with them. One day I found my Shitzu mix sitting in front of the patio doors looking out and he had drug both of his bears so that they could look out the window as well. It makes you wonder what is going on in their little minds.

I highly recommend this breed to anyone who is dealing with a long term debilitating illness. Having them around is sure to make you smile.

What a sweet face!
by: Jeri

I am so glad you two "found" each other. Sounds like a match made in heaven:) These sweet dogs bring so much joy to our lives, don't they? I don't know what I would do without Ollie.

Special Little Champ
by: CJ's Grandma

He is a special little guy who works hard to take care of my daughter. It's a full time job that he takes very seriously. He also loves his Grandma. And his Grandma loves him!

MS companion
by: cathey

Hi, I too, have MS...am a single mother, and when my little basil walked into our lives, we definitely all changed for the better! He kept just showing up at my place while I was outside enjoying my morning cuppa, so I would ring his owners, they would pick him up and this went on for a few days, until they offered him to me as a pet.!yes I was surprised, but he has given me direction, I am going to start a dog grooming service-something I can do when the dreaded MS allows. he keeps me active and the kids amused. he also cuddles with my bengal at my feet every night........a truly wonderful boy!

A Funny Pup
by: Leland

I know CJ as well and he is a very cute little thing. He is very protective of Michelle but he is very kind. If you ignore him he will want attention but he doesn't want you coming to him. He loves his squeaky toy and is always around his bears. It is really funny to see him riding on Michelle's walker like he's the king. He's a great dog and if I got a dog I would want one with CJ's size and personality.

Dedicated love
by: Linda

I have known CJ since he was a tiny puppy. It's amazing how in tune he is with Michelle's needs. He knows when she should stay home and he has ways of letting her know. CJ is like a mother hen when it comes to taking care of her. CJ and his mom are a perfect match.

Friendly with other dogs
by: Beryl

I got to dog sit CJ while his mom was ill. I was worried because of my 75lb 1 year old golden retriever, but he was fine with Jack. He got into the routine of our house pretty quick, even though we are up waaaay earlier that he was used to. The day he left, when held up to Jack's face to say good bye, he gave Jack the cutest little love taps on his face. My monster dog moped the rest of the day!

CJ's best trait
by: Irma

Your CJ is awfully cute even though he is a mix ;) I think the best part is how he warns you when you're about to have a seizure.
