Stan Giving the Stink Eye...

"Seriously"
All my life my family has had dogs, small breeds - Cockapoos and toy poodles. About six years ago my parents adopted a Maltese named Farley who was destined to be put down if he could not find a home. He was not a bad dog - in fact the best dog, but he was tossed from home to home in his early days because of break ups and life getting in the way. So we were blessed with this quirky little man and to this day he is a constant companion and source of much happiness for my parents!
So, as I traveled to and from home for University Farley was in my life - fast forward to a year ago, I am done University, working and moving into a new home with my boyfriend. Although Farley came to visit, it felt like a perfect time to get a Maltese of my own to love. We found the most wonderful local breeder who you could really tell loved the dogs she raised, and cared about the people who would continue to raise them for years to come. My parents and I and my boyfriend made a visit to Josee the breeder...took one look at Stanley and fell in love. By the time we left Josee's we were hugging and kissing and crying - I guess you could call it a bunch of crazy dog lovers experiencing an adoption so to speak.
So it has been the better part of three months since Stanley has been home. He is an entertainer, a companion, a stunt-man - you name it...he is it. He has adjusted so well, and we love him so much.
A few weeks ago we decided to get him used to the idea of a grooming...and his hair was getting quite long. So in he went and home he came...only he returned looking...well shaved. I still loved him, but man. I guess it was a case of us not being clear enough about what we wanted in a hair cut, and the groomer taking things to the extreme.
Regardless things are growing back in - and Stanley - short hair or long hair is the love of our lives. The personalities that these little dogs possess blows me away - and last night I was able to capture one side of Stan's quirky personality on camera. He loves the camera, and he loves to give - what I call "the Stan stink eye" - he is not mad or annoyed...but I like to think that in his head at the moment I was taking this picture he was thinking - "seriously mom - not another picture".
Both my boyfriend and I look forward to many years with this little muffin...and probably a few more stink eye glances!
