I had no idea that my new Yorkie Maltese mix puppy was such a popular mixed breed! Her father is a Maltese and her mother is a Yorkie, I just thought she was a cute mix! I was visiting family in Missouri, and I saw her with her brothers, and I knew there was no way I could leave without her. She was 7 weeks old and weighed 1 pound 2 ounces. She was the runt of the litter, but very feisty.

Over the last few weeks, I have fallen in love with this little baby! I CANNOT resist her little face. She has a little bit of an attitude, but she is so lovable. She is very ferocious and brave, she will take on my 70 pound Golden Retriever like she thinks she can win. Thankfully my Golden is gentle with her.

Potty training is slow going, but we'll get there. These are great little dogs, and I am so happy to see that Yorkie Maltese puppies are a recognized hybrid dog breed.

I have a 12 year old 4 pound pure Maltese and I absolutely love her. She is soooo spunky that when we first got her she would not respond to any name we picked out for her until we were watching "Friends" on tv and the character Phoebe was doing something so I said her name to my daughter in conversation and the puppy jumped straight up and ran to me. After that every once in awhile I would say the name Phoebe and every time she did the same thing so obviosly she picked her own name....and the name Phoebe fits her to a T. She is getting so old now that she has lost her hearing but is still feisty and active. I never wanted a pure breed dog but I fell in love with her but now I want a Maltese Yorkie mix because I really prefer mixed mutts. Can you tell me where you got yours because she is absolutely darling. I need help to find one. Also, how is her temperment? I like tiny little spunky dogs and I think this mix would be perfect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry this is so long but I just wanted you to see the attitude of my maltese that I just love, thanks again, Jeanne
