Angel Eyes Review

by John
(Hawaii)

My Maltese Pekingese started to get stains after a year old. The food that I gave him was Pedigree for puppies. The water, tap and the bowl, plastic. after reading the probable causes, I will buy steel ones and he'll be drinking purified water from now on.

Anyway, after two weeks of recommended use and a grooming, he stopped getting stains. I ran out of Angel Eyes and didn't buy any more for 2 months (holiday season) and the stains came back. He's on it again and the stains have stopped accumulating around his eyes, although the old stains are still there, they just haven't gotten worse.

This product works great, a bit on the high price side, but it works! Also note that I only give him a quarter of a teaspoon every other day now and that helps to keep from having to buy this stuff too often.

Angel eyes and puppies NEW
by: Anonymous

Not sure how old your pups are when you started to give it to them, but I believe you are NOT suppose to start a pup on it until about 18 months of age. Maltese Pups will develop tear staining when they start to get adult teeth and that can start at about ten months. Deal with it, until they are old enough. I believe it comes in two flavors, the favorite seems to be Liver.

Actually, the best price I've seen for Angels Eyes is using that link. It beats Amazon which is $37.09 for 120 grams and via the link it is only $36 for 120 grams. I think you can buy it in smaller sized bottles, but it costs more per gram.

Thank you!

I have a Dandie Dinmont Terrier/Maltes who has the tear stain problem. I am hoping Angel Eyes will help control the problem. Sheridan gets his face washed everyday and that seems to help.
However, if you are purchasing Angel Eyes from the Drug Store at the end of your link on your page, you are paying way to much. I have been shopping around and the best prices are from Amazon.com. I was suprized at varation of prices. The product is not cheap, but some places on the internet are way out of hand.
Thank you for the information on the causes of this problem. Yours was the most informative.

abnormal liver emzynes
by: Anonymous

My pet has had Angel Eyes in her food for 4 months now. After three months I reduced the doseage as directed. When I took her for her annual checkup the vet said her liver emzynes are abnormal. Makes me wonder if Angel Eyes changes their body chemistry to stop the stains? Anyone else had problems? I want my little girl to be pretty but not at a health risk.

Distribution
by: John

I noticed that my dog loved it at first, then even less as time went on. I put Angel Eyes in his food. I give mine a quarter teaspoon per full cup of dried dog food. He still doesn't like it as much as he used to, but he will eat his food and the Angel Eyes by the end of the day.

Don't quote me on this, but I thought I read the distribution instructions I received from my first purchase that you can add water to the powder (as in their water bowl), but add the water only after you've put the powder in the bowl. I don't quite understand the logic in that, but then again I'm not a chemist. Anyway, that was an alternative to adding the powder to the food. I suppose that the water will help dilute the flavor compared to just adding it to solid food where it gets caked onto pieces of food, which then makes that piece less appealing.

What a great Maltese site. My Lacy Maltese has been on Angel eyes since I brought her home., 9 months ago. She hates the taste, any suggestions? I had contacted a show / breeder before I started her on it, The breeder explained it to me and suggested I go ahead. I love my girl. Nancy Williams

ANGELEYES WORK FOR MY BICHON
by: L. Hylland

I have a 9 year old Bichon Frise', I have been using angeleyes for 8 years, and have been completely satisfied with the product.
I have lapsed in his treatment a couple of times, and when starting up with the angelseyes again, his eyes become white again.
We walk our dog daily and many people stop us to tell us what a beautiful dog we have, and ask us how we keep him so white!! We do nothing special, except he is groomed every 4 weeks!
I have always hated seeing white dogs with all that rust stain on their eyes, I tried other products for the staining, but nothing worked....
until Angeleyes, now his face is clean, and even his feet, if he chew on them do not turn "pink"
I am satisfied with this product, and have just ordered another large jar!!

Eye Envy
by: Susan

I use Eye Envy also but not the Angel Eyes as it has an antibiotic in it and why give that if they are not sick. I will however say that your little girl is sooooo cute. You don't often see one so white. I have a black and white Morkie and she gets really white after her bath and that lasts like half and hour until she starts rolling on the floor and playing with our black lab. How old is your puppy? How much does she weigh? We are going to be adding another puppy to our family to keep my little Belle company when her lab brother leaves us, he is 12. Belle is just 1 yr. and needs another playmate. Have you ever been to maltesetalk.com it is for all maltese and mixes. It's really fun to see everybodys furbabies and get all kinds of answers and ideas. My online name is angeleyes and you can see my Morkie there. Well, just have to tell you again what a darling your little girl is.

This stuff really works
by: Karen

I have a 2 year old Maltese/Shih tzu who had bad tear stains since she was a baby. I spent money on products that didn't work. Finally, I dug deep into my wallet and bought Angel Eyes, beef flavor. The first dose I gave her was half the recommended dosage. I wasn't sure how she would react. By the next day I noticed a difference. The third day her stains were gone. I couldn't believe it. I continued this for a week, then gave her a very small amount about every other day for the following week. Then stopped completely. I haven't had to give her anymore since then, and that was 8 months ago. I'm stunned at how well this product worked, I almost gave up hope.
I have almost a full jar of this stuff still sitting in the fridge. I've never needed to use it since. Her eyes still water but no stains.
My vet told me once that the staining is from the iron in their body.

Angel Eye Worries?

by Megan
(Columbus, Ohio)

Angel Eyes is by far the best eye stain removal product I have used. I used it starting with my Shih tzu, and now use it more my Maltese Shihtzu. I have tried pretty much every other solution (distilled/bottled water, food change, cleaning, different products) and none of them worked.

I do worry at times if it is harmful. I have looked into it, and it doesn't seem to be. My Shih tzu has been on it for over 5 years. Any ideas?

I treated mine with changing their diet and not feeding them animal fat, preservatives and additives. The angel eyes had no affect on mine whatsoever. In fact, I don't believe it does anything. I have tested my Maltese with different types of dog food and then see the affects it has on their eyes. It's the horrible food. If you would like to know how to treat it and give your dog proper nutrition don't hesitate to find me at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/AllgenCompanionCare. Your maltese is a cutie!

Angel Eyes

(Ohio)

Romeos` photo for X-mas card.

Romeos` photo for X-mas card.

I have been using the product, Angel Eyes, on my pure white Maltese, Romeo, since he was 3 months old. He is 2 1/2 now. It started working almost immediately. I had bought the Large size and it was around $100 or so. Yes, you may say... that`s so expensive, BUT... it WORKS!

The container has lasted 2 years. A very small sprinkle on his food once a day (/4 teaspoon or less) keeps the red away. His face and eyes are 100% pure white since the day I started this...(Well, maybe it took a week or so to be perfectly white...lol!) I was amazed when I started using it. I had tried other products and the ones you wash the eye fur with to no avail, and what a mess and a fight to do that!

I highly recommend Angels' Eyes Pet Tear Stain Remover. You may start to use this on puppies that are 8 weeks old. It is safe. Ingredients: 100% Pure Beef Liver, Tylosin as tartrate. It is easy to do and really WORKS! There is nothing like a freshly bathed Maltese with a heavenly pure white coat and FACE!!!!!!

I hope this helps everyone with the red staining problems. It also works on other breeds of dogs with this problem.(Poodles, Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Terrier, etc). This is not a commercial! I was happy to let people know there is a simple solution to this problem.Oh, and it must be used daily. No muss! No fuss! Just sprinkle on food!!!!!!!

Now,for over 2 years, Romeo is sooo pretty! :D

Magic

I have had my Maltese for 9 months and when I got him the stains were so bad, I tried to cut out the hair around the eyes carefully but as soon as the hair grow back the stains came back too.

I was searching online and came across Angel's Eyes website... It's only been three weeks and I'm so pleased with the change. His eye area is so much brighter and he looks better. I took Magic to the groomer yesterdays the 11th of June and the groomer so pleased with his face she is now going to order Angel eyes for his clients.

ok all of that is a total lie. I know you and Magic was there when you got him he never had a tear stain issue to the magnitude you are saying and you never tried to cut any fur out. This is all false advertising you should be ashamed of yourself telling these outrageous lies. Magic had the most minimal bit of tear stains. Which you scrubbed out with VARIOUS products So Im inclined to believe all the other testimonials here are fake.

If this company is buying scripted testimonials it's a testament to the fact that their product does not work

Angel Eyes Works Great

by Denise
(Fort McMurray, Alberta)

Angel Eyes is a product that you put on a little bit of their food to ensure they get it all. My little girl, Lexie does not have tearing eyes but my Mom's dog, Lexie's brother, Charlie HAD terrible tear stains.

Within 3 weeks of using Angel Eyes all tear staining was gone. You have the use it twice a week continuously but it is well worth it to see his cute little face all clean.

Mom usually mixes it with a bit of yogurt for him cause he loves yogurt. Angel Eyes is available in Canada and USA.

Angels' Eyes Worked

Our Maltese had a face which was covered with ugly, reddish stains. We tried eliminating foods with red dye, giving her bottled water and topical solutions--nothing worked.

I found a website which talked about Angels' Eyes and the success many dog owners had with it. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it, and it worked like a miracle.

There was significant improvement in our dog's face in about two weeks. The entire problem cleared up in a month.

Beware of Angel Eyes

by Pam
(Mansfield, CT USA)

Our Malt-a-poo vomited every time we gave her Angel Eyes.

Further, her latest liver profile has been abnormal. Angel Eyes has an antibiotic and is formulated using beef liver. Both the antibiotic and beef liver can cause problems in some dogs. This was not indicated on the label. I am hoping our puppy has not sustained any lasting damage.
From now on, we'll simply use a mild water and hydrogen peroxide solution on the stains and keep the hair around her eyes clipped short.

Hopefully, this will control the problem and not cause her harm. Once washing the area, we'll apply a little Vaseline to protect the fur from staining.

Two day's latter her bowels are still loose, but she's begun eating and drinking water on her own.

I agree that hydrogen peroxide is not a very good long term solution.

One common mistake that many owners make is failing to dry the hair around the eyes after washing them.

Have you tried to feed your dog natural tear stain preventers such as angels delight? It worked for our boys and is actually good for them.

You can get it from bologneseofpheonix.com

re: vaseline, angel eyes, and hydrogen peroxide

all of the above are toxic - and yes, Angel eyes has been known to affect liver enzymes etc but should be used short term to kill the bugs in the gut that causes the staining - the vaseline solution is not the best - it is petroleum based and can cause irritation leading to blindness and also Hydrogen Peroxide causes blindness - I would recommend NOT using that near the eyes - all the best to you and your adorable doggies xoxo

Angel Eyes, Hydrogen Peroxide and Hair Peroxide

by Adriana
(New Jersey)

I gave my Maltese Angels' Eyes for dogs which is a food additive for 6 months this helped to stop the new staining.

I also use Hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball and swab the already stained area daily and comb out any stick stuff left behind. When I bath my pup I use a little hair peroxide on the stain. I apply it with my finger, rub it in and carefully rinse a minute or two later.

Please remember to be VERY careful not to get any product in the puppies eyes.

angels eyes with antibiotic
by: Anonymous

I tried Angels Eyes for my pomeranian and it did seem to work well after the first week. However, I recently learned that it contains an antibiotic which is "disguised" under the name Tylosin(tartrate). Unless someone is a medical specialist, one would not know that. I am quite disappointed that this is really not a natural or safe product to use since daily or weekly doses of antibiotic is not preferable. Your dog may look healthier, but the reality is that it is damaging the liver after long term use. Please read up on Tylosin on the web and be informed.

In health, for the little wee white ones.

Abby...all the time...no stains...ever!

Angels Eyes is an effective solution to eye stain. I started my little adopted, 4lb maltese on it as soon as I brought her home. This product is available at most pet stores such as PetCo or Centinela.

It is a bit pricey but you use so little that one small bottle will last almost a year. Follow the directions and the results are amazing. After the initial prescribed dosage for the first 6 months, I now sprinkle a TINY amount in her food ONCE a week. Harmless and effective!

Dog Food and Tear Stains
by: Evelyn Perez

Hello I have been using Angel Eyes and I haven't seen a difference in my Matlese's eyes. I am curious what kind of food you all are feeding your dog. I have been using Angel Eyes for a few months now. My Maltese is 7 months old and I started seeing his tear stains one month ago. I gave him Blue Buffalo Chicken & Oatmeal and recently changed his food to Blue Buffalo Adult Chicken and Brown Rice, that is when I noticed his Tear stains. Maybe I need to change his food back?? Just trying to get some feedback.

Thanks!

I agree that this product works well. Once the tear stains are gone, you only have to use it once in awhile (maybe once a week or less). That was my one drawback to a light colored/white dog. I hate how tear stains ruin their faces. My little Morkie gets "boogers" in her eyes, but no tear stains. Her eyes are easy to take care of now and she looks adorable!

Angels Eyes Works Great

by Laura Sanderson
(Ashkelon, Israel)

I have used Angels Eyes on my little Maltese, Charlotte, off and on since 2005. Lowest dose, 1/16 tsp, really just a pinch on her food for several weeks and the staining stops. Intervals of unrecurrent staining are from a few months to a year. Two days of treatment and she's clear but I continue the little pinch for several weeks and she stays clear for a long period. The product does not seem to degrade. I am still using a jar labeled best by 12/08. It comes in a little plastic jar = 30gr. Ingredients list 100% pure beef liver.

I am astonished that people are still trying to find solutions when this amazing product has been in grooming salons for years (at least in Florida where I found it).

are antibiotics good long term?
by: dean

Hi there

I used to use Angels Eyes. I was always annoyed that neither they or Angels Glow are up front about the antibiotic (tylosin). To be fiar Angels Glow were a little more honest about it but both played down the fact that it is the tylosin that does the work.

Please ensure that you give your dog a break from it every now and then. This does mean that you might need t let the stains come back but this would only be for a short period.

That is the cutest puppy I have ever seen!! Glad you found something that works for the eyes. We are waiting for a Maltichon puppy so I'm trying to research the breed and the eye staining has come up.

Angels Eyes Tear Stain Remover

by JOANIE
(NH)

CODY, before Angels Eyes

CODY, before Angels Eyes

My Maltese Cody is two and he had terrible tear stain. I tried everything from keeping his eyes dry, to changing his water, his dish, eye stain "removers" and nothing worked! My neighbor told me about a product she heard of from a friend... Angels Eyes. She had been using on her Shih tzu for about 3 months and she got great results.

I went online and ordered a bottle of 120 mg for about 60 dollars. There is also a website for Angel Eyes but it was more expensive. Our Result: It has been 6 weeks and 100% of Cody's tearstains are GONE. I sprinkle a 1/4 tsp of the Angels Eyes in his food every morning and he loves it...

He was always a gorgeous Maltese, but now more than ever, he is amazing looking and I look in his brown eyes now and am not distracted by the stains.

This product truly works, I give it 5 stars for a product. I will certainly buy it again, but I won't need to for a while since the amount you give daily is so small.

TRY IT!!

Thanks for sharing, and pretty pup. I have used Angels eyes for a while too and had the same results. recently, i found a product called Clear Tears which, after reviewing and comparing with that of angels glow as well, seemed to have the same characteristics. I figured Id give it a shot cause the cost was less and I knew the other products work. Turned out exactly as i expected great results and save a couple dollars. hope this helps.

Angel Eyes Works Great

by Lesley
(Louisiana)

It works great! I use it on my Maltese puppy! I put it in her food every night and she doesn't mind it. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and I already see a difference.

Angels Eyes doesn't get rid of existing tear stains they have to be trimmed off but it keeps them from staining again. I love it!

Angel Eyes Better Than Anything Else

by Bonnie
(Orlando)

I tried everything topical with no results. Someone mentioned this powder called Angel Eyes and it did the trick. Within a very short time my 2 Maltese had no more tear stains. The hair under the eyes grew in white and there were no more clumpy matted problems.

Angel Eyes

My Abi our year old Maltese had terrible eye stains. I tried the eye envy and it did not work on her. It did work on Mesh our tiny Maltese. Abi has been using Angels Eyes for 1 year now and has the most beautiful white baby doll face.

I will be more than delighted to share photos if anyone wants to see. Our groomer was so impressed she has told most of her clients.

I heard that angel eyes has an antibotic in it. what happens when your dog really needs an antibotic? It may not work b/c he is already immune to it? what is all of your thoughts? is it good for him or not?

Angel Eyes
by: Susan

I have read a lot about Angel Eyes, some good, some bad as with any product. I have an 8 month old black and white Morkie. I wash her face in the morning with a warm wash cloth and again before bed. It really helps. I also use some eye cleaning pads I got from Dr. Foster and Smith. What really seems to help is when I give Belle a bath, I use Woolite mixed with water as an after rinse and I carefully put a little under her eyes. Rinse well being careful not to get it in her eyes. I can't believe how much difference the Woolite makes in the whiteness of her hair.

Angel Eyes - Great Tear Stain Remover

Angel Eyes is a great tear stain remover. You just put drops in there water. My vet told me that it would not hurt my other dogs to drink it either.

Wilma, my little Morkie is so cute with no stains now!

Angel Eyes for my Maltese

by Beth

My Maltese had pretty bad staining, I tried Angel Eyes, it is a powder that you add to the food once a day it really worked, I had tried solutions you put directly on the stains, and it did not work.

I used Angel Eyes for several months, the stains are gone, and I no longer need to use it. He looks great.

Using Angels Eyes

he's still just as cute and no staining

he's still just as cute and no staining

I have used Angels Eyes for years (my Teddy is 4 years old) and there is never any staining. I ran out once and the staining showed up again - I make a point of not running out anymore.
It's very easy to use and as picky as he is with his food, he likes it. phew :)

What amount do you give to your baby? I tried it with mine and gave him a teaspoon full and it made him very tired and not himself.

Angels Eyes Helps With Tearstains

by Caroline
(United States)

Angels Eyes helps alot! You put it in their food, or their water. Either way it doesn't matter. I've been using this for my dog Lilly for quite awhile because she has a pretty bad time with the stains on her eyes. One catch though you have to order it online because they don't sell it in stores. I hope this was a bit of help to you and your Maltese!

Angel's Eyes For Tear Stains

by Jackie Verbell
(Brooklyn, N.Y.)

My Maltipoo had terrible tear stains under and all over his eyes. Nothing worked to remove them.

Then I heard of this product called Angel's Eyes. I know two people who use it and their dogs look beautiful. It is a powder that you sprinkle over their food. In about three weeks if your dog is a good eater the stains will be completely gone.

It is an excellent product that you can find on the internet. You will be greatly surprised at the results.

Eye stains NEW
by: Little Miss Muffit

I have used and am using Angel Eyes for my Morkie, Muffit. When she was less than two years old, we had no big problem, but for the last year (her 4th), it's become a big problem. The Angel Eyes isn't working for her. I have to wash her eyes daily to try and keep the staining at bay. Her feet seem to stain as well??? What is that?
It would be hard to make sure she only has bottled water (another cure I've heard of) as we have also have a German Shorthair who shares her water and our cat. Any suggestions from anyone? Muffit (Maltese/Yorkie) is cream color with a bit of gold.

Tear Stain Remedies - Angel Eyes

by Janice, R.N.
(Sacramento County, CA )

After spending hours searching the internet for tear stain/saliva stain remedies, I decided to see what the owners of the Whitest of White Maltese babies use.

Because I thought some of my findings were serious, I blogged yesterday about two tear stain products on the internet, one accusing the other of Antibiotic use while using a "herb" with potentially severe side effects themselves.

Angel Eyes did respond to my voice message:

Their representative clairified that Angel Eyes "Natural" does not have antibiotic in it but the "Original" does have such minute amounts of Tylosin Tartate that it does not cause resistance. I was relieved after having my Schnauzer baby on it for 6-months. The product took about 3-months for 50% reduction of saliva stains and 75% at 6-months.

The product website that scared me to death was contains euphrasia-officinalis (the following site states no research available for animals!) I have not heard back from their voice mail.

(scroll to the bottom of the following web site resource of this herb)

http://www.wellness.com/reference/herb/eyebright-euphrasia-officinalis/dosing-and-safety

I would like to add that, I am grateful to be able to read what the Maltese Families use for their Whitest of White babies and look forward to finding the perfect remedy for us.

Thank You So Much and God Bless, Janice, R.N.

I absolutely adore my male Maltese name Roo-d who is 4 years old. We use Angels Eyes on him and it works great! He is so much a part of this family. He talks and I swear he says momma... Would be lost without him.
