Is He a Malchi?

We were wondering and wondering what breed our sweet rescue pup was... we were told Chihuahua and terrier mix, but he sure looks like Maltese Chihuahua mix. We've had our little guy for 3.5 months and he's pure JOY!

He's a snuggler, loves to run in circles in the backyard, he is very protective and leary of strangers and will bark at airplanes and bicyclists to "scare" them off...(he thinks he's scaring them away!) He loves to sleep on top of our chest or belly, he get sooooo excited to go on a car ride and does really well on a leash for a walk.

He is a 8 lb. pup who thinks he's a fearless 80 pounder, ha! We just adore this bundle of love...

Looks like a chi-yorki mix same temperament but a little larger. Maltichi stay 6 at top. But we all know we can over baby them. Gfeed too much. Lol

Looks like my Malchi

He looks a lot like my Malchi Mimi. She has the exact same face, except Mimi is all black with a white belly and white paws. We know her mom is a white Maltese and her dad is a black Chihuahua. I have a picture of her posted on this site if you want to compare but I say there is a striking resemblance.

He does look a little like my maltese, Disney. And, my long haired chihuahua, Sierra, who died April 1, 2010. I miss her so much. You should get a breed test kit at Petsmart, though.

It's hard to tell with some dogs just what they are a mix of. The ears look Chi, but I don't see much Maltese. You can get a pet DNA test from Pet Smart and test him. It would be interesting to know what he is. Sometimes it just doesn't matter as we love them anyway!

Is Rocky a Malchi?

:) *SIGH ahhh a pet owners dream come true. I actually think I found out what kind of dog Rocky is... a Malchi. I got Rocky about 8 months ago. He was given to us in an emergency situation. The only information the owner gave us was that he was a Chihuahua mix. I haven't had the money to go out and get a dog DNA test but I constantly looked up info on different breeds.

It never crossed my mind that he could possibly be a Malchi until I was at an flea market and seen a handful of Maltese and made the comparisons. When I came home I told my sister that I thought he could be mixed with maltese, however I didnt know much at all about malchi's. I looked it up and came across several malchi's that looked so similiar it brought small tears of joy to my eyes. I felt like my search was over and little Rocky was finally classified! Even if he turns out not to be a Malchi I wont forget the feeling of seeing other beautiful dogs like him. Rocky is so sweet he is extremely close to me. When I'm sad or sick he gets really close to my face and rub his head across my cheeks and chin :)

He is extremely smart!! He trys to say I love you if I say it to him first. (Search Rocky says I love you on youtube to see him try) He likes to sit on my shoulder for some reason or on my chest. He is always underneath me and gets extremely excited to see each and every time I step in the house. If I pucker my lips he jumps up and kisses me. He is a little standofish to strangers. He barks more so at males for some reason. I cant get him to be friendly to other dogs at all! He is ok with little puppies. He doesn't bark at kids or babies. He lovescar rides and is very picky about what he eats. He loves to be silly. Like he will roll around in clothes and covers and kick them up while rolling in circles. He likes to walk around with clothes on his head LOL!

He also likes to mess up his hair if you brush it down. The pic I posted isnt the best but it captures him as the messy rockstar that he is. I love him to death!!! Do you think he is a Malchi? Pleaseee let me know?

I totally agree that Rocky looks like a Malchi totally. And he has all the personality traits to go with it. My Muffit, a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie) does the same things. Such silly, mischievous, little loveable dogs! Enjoy!

Buffy the Maltese Chihuahua cross?

I have a 3 and a half year old pet dog, she was sold to me as a Maltese Chihuahua cross, but she doesn't fit the looks description on this website. She is definitely a Chihuahua cross, but she has shortish smooth hair.

I think that she could be a Chihuahua, Maltese cross Chihuahua, if any 1 could help I would greatly appreciate it.

I know you've been getting various remarks and descriptions of what kind of dog others think you have lol, but the only real way to tell is to take the baby to the vet. Looks can help you have an idea, but hip height and shape snout length, ear height and inner hair length eye diameters, they all play a part....i should know, i am a vet. <3

At a face glance she looks to have A LOT of pom in her, but without any other information or her right in front of me, i'm afraid that i cant tell you!

Take her in, have her looked at and if no positive can be determined you can always have the vet send in a blood sample and find out EVERY TYPE OF BREED that is in her blood!

Finally found the family!

Hi everybody,
Just yesterday I took my dog to parlor and lady actually told me that it's Pam Terrier. I don't think so!
My dog Dexter is just 1 year old and we bought him as Maltese miniature, but there is nothing in him like Maltese. HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE YOUR DOG!
It's amazing that cross breed and looks alike.
We finally found the family! :-)

hi, my dog was a pekingese cross maltese apparently, but looked nothing like the photos that come up in google images and i have not yet seen a dog that looks the same. she looks nearly IDENTICAL to your dog. and I must say she most likely has pekingese in her. perhaps ur chihuahua had parents who were a pekingese cross maltese and a maltese cross chihuahua or something of that mix. Your dog is just gorgeous and brings back memories of Penny who died in 2003. She was the best dog and will always be the best dog I'll ever own!

A lot of Pet Smart locations do DNA testing too. She almost looks like a chihuahua/pekingese cross to me. But all Malchis tend to look different depending on the look of the chihuahua so who knows.

Is Harley a Malchi?

I have seen a few photos of Malchi's and I am certain that my Harley is one of them, despite being told that she is a Shitzu x Maltese!!! Are you able to confirm?

She is the nicest, sweetest and happiest dog! She is a treasure to be around.

Your Harley is really cute but I'd bet money that there's no Shitzu mix in her. Not with that longer nose. It could be Chi but I'm not even sure about that. You can get a DNA test from like Petco and test her yourself just to be sure what she really has in her genes. Otherwise just love her for what she is or isn't, the love they give is unconditional no matter what breed. Enjoy her.

I'm with Yolo County SPCA (CA), trying to figure out the breed mix, maybe Malchi, of my sweet little foster dog Dixie. 4.4 pounds, about 3 years old. She's fluffy here after a bath. Our intake put her down as terrier but I don't think so, with her size and pointed little muzzle. Think she's a Malchi?

She definitely looks like a Malchi! I know someone who has a malchi that looks just like her! She is also around the same weight. Their malchi also has similar type of hair, white, medium length, and more wirey/coarse hair but fluffy. From the picture, she looks like she has coarse hair, rather than silky white maltese hair.

Dixie certainly has the Chihuahua part down pat. And you are probably right about the Maltese being in there, too. Thus, the white fluffy hair, dark eyes and nose. Cute as can be!
