Ziva is so named because she is so beautiful with the prettiest dark eyes just like the actress Cote Pablo from NCIS. She is one of our favorite characters from our favorite show. My daughters think they are princesses thought on actually thinks she is Queen and when Ziva came into our lives, the made their opinions know that Ziva would not be the princess. We were looking for the best girl dog names so, I named her Contessa. Natalia is a great aunts name and Ziva is as graceful as a ballerina.

This girl dog name was chosen because she is so perfect. She is like a little princess, dainty and angelic. She is so well-behaved, almost never barks and is very laid back. She definitely lives up to her name, she is our "Angel".

Her registered name is Priscilla Elsbeth Peebles, but she is so Prissy that the name suits her perfectly. She was 6 ounces at 6 weeks when we got her, but she now is 4 lbs and is beautiful.

We live in Hawaii, and had just lost our 5 year old Maltese Pili Aloha to Myositis. 3 months later while in Australia we adopted an 8 week old Maltese and as we had to have all the import papers to bring her back to Hawaii, we had to have the age, breed and name of the dog to bring her back to the USA, so we named her Jozy (Jo from Oz) this was an easy transition as the puppy had already been name Lizzy so it almost sounded the same, and then we found out she was born on January 26th (Australia Day) so she had to have a very Australian name. Jozy Matilda is now eight and a half years old and we love her to pieces.

I wanted to name a child Dawn Renee until Mother Nature didn't allow me to have children. Now I have the best of both worlds. I named my dog Dawn Renee and think it is one of the best girl dog names out there!

When we went to pick up Miss Hayzee Mai, the woman we got her from had named her Hazel. Well, we weren't so fond of the name, and the lady explained to us that she knew her puppies would get new names. She went on to explain that when re-naming our new baby girl, it would be easier for her and us to keep Hazel as part of the new name until she caught on to what we decided to name her. On our short trip home, we were going through different names, and trying to perhaps find something that would sort of go with Hazel, and somehow "Hayzee Mai" just came blurting right out of my mouth. It worked out great because she was used to being called Hazel, and we didn't change it up too much. I come from a long line of uniquely spelled names, so I thought it only right that I change hers up a little too! She definitely is "Hayzee Mai" And she's the cutest little Christmas gift I've ever gotten! I just wish I could have another one!

Emily, she so lady like and dainty, reminds me of a Jayne Austin character.
Sasha is sassy and has an aristocratic air about her when she carries her squeakies. She holds her heads up ,so proud.
I knew their personalities the first time I saw them at 6 weeks and had their tags made 2 weeks before I took them home and they've really lived up to those names.
Amber, our Cocker is amber coloured but we really named her after all our Cockers. Amy, Max, Buster, Einstein and Rosie. Just worked out to spell Amber.. She must have been meant to be ours. We weren't looking for another dog,we already had 2 Malts but when we saw her at that nasty pet store,we knew we had to have her...
Lil Bit was a rehomer or rescue, she came to us by serendipity, she's the mother of our 2 girls. She's a little bit of a thing so that's how they named her, we call her Bitsy.
Rylee another rescue, is such a little man, 3.5 pounds and all clown. We call him Doodles or Doodlebug since he's so small. It's a wonder he even comes to his name.

So I snitched a sock. It was only one!!!!!
Ziva's full name is Contessa Ziva Natalia Ballerina. We call our female Maltese Ziva because as a puppy, she was sweet and cuddly yet vulnerable. Ornery as all get out. Full of life and curious to learn. Then there was the other side of Ziva. Ziva thought she was a big dog. She thought she was a Rottweiler or a Great Dane. Why these two breeds. They lived in the neighbor hood. Now, Ziva decided she was the watch dog for the family since Rascal was so shy. So she would bark. lol arf arf. The big dogs WOOF WOOF. Picture this puppy Maltese -vs- on of these dogs stare down I kid you not it happen to both of them.
Down went the heads and a whimper came out and they went home. Why they were alone, we have no idea. But if we were on the front porch, it looked like they just nodded to Contessa Ziva.
Too funny or what. So with all of that she reminded us of the character of 'Ziva David' trained Massad Agent. Hence the name. I had an great aunt Natalia, I never had another girl to name her so Ziva got the name and Ballerina after her human sisters who both too dance classes and her oldest sis, Majors in Dance in college. Why Contessa? We already had a Maltese named Princess Bella. And my youngest daughter said she was the Queen and no dog was taking her title.

I've always said if I had a little girl I would name her Zoey. I just love the name and think it is one of the best girl dog names. I haven't had any children until this little one came along. Love at first sight. I'll settle for a best friend named Zoey!!

We have a tradition of naming our dogs after food items. With her pure white coat and friendly disposition, Sugar was a natural choice for our little girl dog.

I chose this name for my Maltese because, well, I love the name Alex but it was a little boyish and I liked Alexa but it was kind of common. So I found a different spelling that I think is very unique. I have 3 more dogs that I named Alaska (a American Eskimo) Avalon (a Spitz) and Asia (another Maltese).

We chose to name our little girl Liberty because we freed her from a life on the streets. The Lulu part of her name is because she is such a dainty, sweet girly girl of a dog.

When we first got her she was so tiny she used to sleep in all the nooks and crannies leaving us to find out where she was. I finally thought that if she had a bell on her harness we would be able to hear her. That's how we came up with Bella.

I chose Melanie for my new Maltese puppy because I wanted a name that was feminine. I thought she was a very special little girl. She is also very loving and sweet. Her favorite activity is sitting with me in my recliner or lying at my feet wherever I happen to be. I love her very much. Also think I would like to find another female Maltese puppy.
