Black Malchi Puppy - Pablo

by Sarah
(Leicestershire, UK)

Pablo is a black Malchi puppy and is full of fun and mischief we have totally fell in love with him. He is now 13 wks old and into everything. He never leaves our side and is scared of missing out on something.

He loves playing and chewing which we are trying to control with chew toys and he loves playing in the garden and having a mad bolt up the lawn!!!!
He has 3 meals a day of dry food and he weighs about 4 lbs. He has not managed full potty training yet but is trying his best with just a few accidents. He goes to bed in his crate about 11pm and gets up at 6am with very little whining. We have had him now just over a wk and LOVE him so much!!

Oh yes, because he is long haired I brush him daily to avoid tangling and to get him used to it. Malchis are just adorable!!!

My black Malchi puppy is very funny! Cries when I leave the room as I have only had her 1 day and she is so attached to me already! My Malchi puppy is 8 weeks old and uses the paper to potty. She is very playful!

Black Malchi Puppy - Billie

by Brandon
(Los Angeles)

Billie is a 1 year old black Malchi puppy with long, uneven hair. She is quite adorable in her own little way weighing in at about 3.8 pounds.

She is extremely quirky. She hates all men with the exception of me and I cannot get here to warm up to any others. She loves all women and is not afraid of any other dogs regardless of the size or breed. She will run right up to a Great Dane and play quite aggressively.

She is extremely hyper and it is quite fun to watch her. Otherwise she is a very loyal, affectionate dog. I wish I could get her to warm up to men however.

Hi Billie!
by: LuLu and LoLLy!

Billie we are 2 Maltese dogs and you are absolutely beautiful. It seems like another poster gave some excellent advice about getting used to the men humans. LoLLy is a rescue and she had issues with me too, but she's figured out they can be OK, since some very patient guys were around. :)

Love, your Maltese dog PaLs, LuLu and LoLLy! http://www.luluandlolly.com

Warm up to men tactic
by: Anonymous

From what I've seen on tv, it appears that you can
gradually get your dog to warm up to people by making meeting new people a positive experience. The new person should not look directly at the dog, no eye contact, no petting, face the dog in a crouched position sideways. The owner should talk in a calm positive, way, give the dog a treat if the dog is not aggressive. Have the stranger give the dog a treat. Eventually the dog will associate treats and good vibes with men. Perhaps YOU are subconsciously giving your dog the message by your body language that you EXPECT the dog will act out against men.
I had a husky that was extremely protective of me
and would allow no hugging or physical contact.
My boyfriend, who later became my husband, gradually won over the dog's trust by being calm,
patient, and assertive. If a dog acts aggressively
towards men or strangers, it may be that the dog
doesn't feel you are the pack leader. Little dogs
in particular can become very aggressive and unstable when they feel they must be the dominant
one to protect themselves and their owner. Calm,
confident, assertive behavior on your part and the stranger's part will let Billie know he doesn't have to be in charge.

My Malchi was born on the first of June and live in Holland. He's very sweet and a little bit naughty, but that's what I like the most about him.

Black Malchi Curly

by Jody
(Chicago)

This was her at Christmas

This was her at Christmas

Curly is an 8 pound 5 year old black Malchi that has been in our family since she was 5 months old. Curly is the best dog I have ever had. You will never receive more love from a dog ever in your life. She is wonderful around everyone from small children to adults to the elderly. For the most part, my Maltese Chihuahua lays low and is the perfect lap dog, but there are other times when she is just like a puppy again. And boy is she a licker! She will lick your face off if you let her! She loves to be cuddled and held like a baby. She rarely ever barks and is wonderful with other dogs, animals (we have a cat), and strangers. The only problems we've had with her is that she isn't really potty trained and still goes in the house. But that is partially our (me and my mother) faults because we are both gone for the majority of the day. But she has learned to go in the basement rather than upstairs. The other problem is that she does love our attention and has to sleep right next to us every night. And she's only had one medical problem which was a skin infection on her ears that was starting to spread. But with some medication it was taken care of. So in conclusion a Malchi is a great dog for everyone. For families and small children, the elderly, those who live in an apartment, etc. But they do want a love of attention. A Malchi has the best temperament in a dog I have ever seen and its a real treat to have one.
