Spunky Malchi - Nitro

by Monique Smith
(Ft. Lauderdale Florida US)

Our Malchi Nitro is great with children and at times he jumps in our laps when we are sitting down. He is very protective of me and my mother. At times he can be very snappy and barks at almost every sound that he hears outside.

Training is very tricky with him. He does the sit command but the other commands; he can be quite stubborn. He is very aggressive and tends to get jealous alot.

UPDATE: Nitro has become such a part of our family and we love him dearly. He was given to us by a coworker who didn't have the time to take care of him and was therefore left to take care of himself. This has caused many aggression problems. We love him and is still working on some training tips to help him with this behavior.

Nitro this is such a touching post!
by: Lulu and LoLLy!

Dear Nitro and Nitro's humans, We are 2 Maltese dogs. LoLLy is a rescue and had many issues too. We were so touched to read this posting. We were touched to hear how much the humans care, and so sorry to know that Nitro has issues to overcome. Thank you to the humans for working so hard to help Nitro learn that he can relax and not always be in a defensive or aggressive stance. It took LoLLy a while to figure this out too, but once wonderful humans like you help us doggies relax and our real personalities shine through, it's a miracle every day! Love, your PaLs, LuLu and LoLLy! http://www.luluandlolly.com

Smart Malchi - Petey

by Amanda
(PA)

My Malchi Petey is wonderful! He is SO smart, and very playful. He always wants to play with someone. He is definately loving. He always wants to be on someone's lap, or wants someone to be holding him.

If you are getting a Malchi, my advise to you would be to crate train them! They are super smart and it only took Petey a couple of days to train him, he is only 4 months old, and he NEVER pees in the house. My Malchi is wonderful!

Social Malchi - Pablo

by Chloe
(Australia)

pablo is great with kids

pablo is great with kids

He is a one and a half year old Malchi, very relaxed and easy to train he even sleeps rolled on his back in my lap on command. He is excellent with children even the young and rough ones and an extreme people and dog personality. His only dislike are bikes and golfers.

If considering this mixed breed make sure you can give plenty of love as they are social animals and they enjoy good walks although you don't have to have a high energy level to own. Don't take any bad behavior as a trait of the Malchi as many of the things people say about them is just not true given the proper training. But they will miss behave if given the opportunity (wouldn't you?) Otherwise this is a perfect companion pet for any dog lover.

Senior Malchi - Tiny

by Angela
(Rowlett, TX)

I was told that Tiny was a purebred Chihuahua but after visiting this website, I definitely think that he is a Malchi.

He is full of energy and so much fun to be around. He is extremely smart, loyal, and loves everyone. His favorite game to play is hide and seek.

He just turned 9 yrs old at Christmas.

Hello Tiny!
by: LuLu and LoLLy!

Hello Tiny, we are 2 Maltese dogs, and you are very cute! Math is not our strong suit but we are pretty sure 9 is the number after 26 and before negative 12, either way, it's a very good number. Also, our Humans say LoLLy weighs 9 but she wants to say that she weighs 5 like LuLu so she lies about her weight all the time. Have a great day!

Precious and Daisy

by Malchi Puppies - Gerrie Ramsey
(Joplin, Mo.)

We have two beautiful Malchi puppies that are a little over 9 weeks old now. Precious has the typical short-haired chihuahua body and looks. Her sister, Daisy, from the same litter has the Chihuahua body but the Maltese hair...

Both are absolutely adorable and love to play but Precious has more of the laid back calmer personality whereas Daisy is just always full of energy. Both love to wrestle with each other and steal whatever the other one is playing with or eating.

Both are also white in color although Precious has tan markings on her skin. We adore each of them for who they are and their very different personalities.

Tiny Malchi - Binkey

by Brenda Willis
(Ofallon Mo)

My Little Malchi is named Binkey. He is two years old and loves to to watch TV. And when he wants things his way, he will drag his back legs on the floor and make baby like sounds.

Binkey is truly a great joy in my life and he travels with me all the time. My tiny Malchi only weights four pounds but I believe he thinks that he is the biggest dog around.Tin

Sneaky Malchi - Mr. Cheeks

by Nicole
(Valley Stream, NY)

Our Malchi puppy Mr. Cheeks is 10 months old and just the cutest little dog with a really big personality! He thinks everyone is his friend and he is a little bundle of energy. He is very intelligent, playful and loving.

He can also be very sneaky... if he is chewing something he shouldn't have... like furniture legs he will bring his toy with him, put it down next to the table leg so you think he is chewing the toy, but he is actually chewing the table.

Our Malchi puppy really does get into all sorts of trouble... it's like having a toddler in the house again and we love every minute of it!

Perfect Malchi - Pierre

by Shannon Lewis
(Brentwood, TN )

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!!

My Malchi Pierre, is a lovable angel. He loves to ride in my purse and does numerous tricks like: sit, lay down, roll over, play dead, dance, beg, and even sneeze on command.

Pierre is very smart and was potty trained at 8 weeks old. :) He loves to ride in the car and hang his head out of the window. Pierre loves to bark all the time. He's not scared of any dog, which is his downfall because he is so little. He is dog aggressive (at times) even with taking 3 training classes. It's in his nature and when he finally warms up (which doesn't take long) he will be your best friend.

Pierre is 7lbs and will be 3 on June 11, 2008. He is black and white and does not shed. I could not have asked for a more perfect dog. He is my child and I take him everywhere. I have not met anyone who does not think he is the cutest dog in the world. I have even had someone make me an offer to buy him.

I too had a Malchi...If you don't mind me asking where you got yours? Ours was ran over a couple months ago...he was dear to us. I found him at a local pet shop and it was love at first sight. I would like to look into getting another but they are so rare. I went back to the pet store here and they rarely get them in, if at all. If you have any tips or know any breeders i would love to know. I will check this page for a response.

Thank You,

Rescued Chihuahua Mixes - Spike

by Stacy Parish
(Neenah, WI)

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home

Spike came to us via the Fox Valley Humane Association. He is one of the best rescued Chihuahua mixes ever. His birthday is 1-2-10, so he is just over 12 months old.

He is lively, bright eyed, independent, sweet, loyal, extremely curious, and VERY agreeable. His favorite spot is in the sun. Mostly though, he loves whatever we love. He just wants to be nearby. The shelter told us he was much more like a Maltese than a Chihuahua.

What a gift he's been.

He is most attached to me, but I spend the most time with him. My daughter, who is 15, is his next favorite friend. My Maltese Chihuahua mix is not always trusting, or happy with the company of my 8 year-old son, but he is patient with him. He has snapped at him...but I do not feel he is unreasonably aggressive at all. He and my husband are buddies too. They just don't see too much of eachother.

We are looking forward to Spring so we can walk more outside and play.

Update on Malchi - Cooper

by Kaylan
(Monroe, NC)

I thought I would do an update on our Malchi Cooper for the lady who has his brother Tucker. Cooper is still very active and loves to play. He also still loves to travel.

One new thing is that he does not like to be left alone. He cries and howls when I walk out. But hes not as bad as long as my other dog is with him. He prefers rawhides and bones to toys; but that does not stop him from dragging all the toys out of his basket. When our Malchi is not playing he has this studious look on his face as if he is taking in the world.

His hair has gotten a little longer but it is thin and his bangs are crazy. He has found his voice but is not yappy. Hes very much a 'Momma's Boy'.

Here is our Chihuahua Maltese mix puppy Cooper when he was 9 months old.

Bully sticks?
by: Kelly

Hi -
I have a question for the person who uses bully sticks. Aren't they just rawhide, too? I give them to my malchi... I've never had a problem with them, but he does chew them pretty fast, and they smell and look just like braided rawhide and are sold in the rawhide section of the pet stores. Just wondering...

Cooper
by: Susan

Your little guy is so cute. We have a Morkie who is black and white and almost 7 pounds full grown. One thing I noticed is that you give Cooper rawhide. I use to give Belle that too until I learned that it is not good for them. It can swell in their stomach. I switched Belle to bully sticks and she loves them. They also last a lot longer than rawhide. Just a hint for puppy's safety.

Chihuahua Maltese Dog - Benji

by Tracey Hindmarsh
(New Zealand)

Benji is a Chihuahua Maltese dog just over a year old and he looks like a mini Husky. He has the coolest personality and everyone that meets him loves him. He shares his home with two long haired Chihuahuas and three cats whom he all gets on well with, and he especially loves my little black cat Izzy as he's always cleaning her ears when he sees her.

I fell in love with him when I saw his photo and I knew then I had to have him! I was unaware this mixed breed existed either. He is "one out of the box" and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a small dog.

Smart Malchi - Daisie

(Palmdale, CA)

We have only had our Malchi for a couple of days, but she seems to be a very smart young lady with a little bit a of a rough-neck side, lol.

She is really not that rough, she just seems to have no fear! We have a Pomeranian Chihuahua mix that is 2 years old and Daisie chases HER around the house instead of the other way around!

She is VERY cuddly & loving. At night she just curls up in my neck and sleeps all night there.

Special Malchi - Princess

by Nichole Anderson
(Brownsville, VT)

A cool Princess!

A cool Princess!

We ended up getting our Malchi in a weird way. My 11 yr old daughter found a tan and white dog loose in the street of VT. We had him for 2 days, one night, before we found out his owner was frantic. Once we returned him to the police, my daughter was heartbroken. So I found a look-alike on craigslist. That is how our 7 month old Malchi came into our life.

She is a nervous type of dog, because her owners boyfriend wasn't nice to her. She fears men and takes a long time to trust them. But once she trusts you, she is the most LOVING, SWEET girl I know. She likes barking at people to protect us or something. But she is sooooo loyal and funny. She dances with me on 2 feet and does twirls perfectly with my help. She is always right by me, where-ever I am. She sleeps in my bed every night. She is the fastest dog I've ever seen run. Her feet barely touch the ground. I read someone else's description that said they didn't know how they lived without her.

I LOVE her so much. Her and my Mini Dachshund are the best of friends. But in bed she is possessive of me, and growls a little. She surely fits the name she came with........PRINCESS!

Playful Malchi - Shadow

by Elisa
(MA)

Shadow is a 1 and a half year old boy Malchi. He loves playing around with little ones like my 1 year old sister. We also have a 11 mouth Maltese.

He is a great jumper. He jumps on to my bed that is 2.5 feet tall. Compared to his height which is about 9.5 in. He growls alot to new people, but he is SUPER friendly towards new dog friends.

I would recommend Malchis to people who like everything to be clean because he doesn't shed.

Rescued Malchi - Brandi

by Rubie Pineda
(Bentonville, AR, USA)

Brandi the sleeping beauty

Brandi the sleeping beauty

My Brandi is a Malchi, and the most beautiful one I've ever seen! She has a very fun and loving personality. She will follow me around wherever I go (including the bathroom) and cry for me when I leave. She is a great companion, and takes care of me just as much as I take care of her.

The first time I laid my eyes on her I fell in love with her. Brandi's original owners were friends of the family whom neglected her completely, and fed her a few times a week. I went to visit for the first time and noticed a small, white, furry creature in a box on the porch. Brandi had lived in a box barely big enough for her to stand in.

She grew in that confined box for nine months of her life. I knew I had to do something. I offered an overpriced amount for her and took her home. Thank God for selfish people who thought money could buy anything! It was the greatest thing I have ever invested in, and wouldn't trade her for the world.

Once I got her home, she literally ran laps around my 3 bedroom home! She had finally found freedom! Brandi really deserves nothing, but the best. She's a dream come true and I wouldn't trade her for the world!

Thankgod for people like you, that see this sort of abuse and actually do something about it..instead of turning a blind eye! I once tried to rescue a cocker spaniel who had been so severely neglected the vet said had we held her up to the light we would probably have been able to see through her!
Unfortunately her organs were too badly damaged to save her and we had to euthanise.
I am currently volunteering at an RSPCA shelter here in Perth, have a horse and two dogs of my own, one is a cocker X poodle and one a MALCHI! Yay! Luv my animals, all animals actually. Well done to you, and I hope your little Brandi gives you years of fun and happiness!

What a wonderful story...Brandi is lucky to have you. I have a 3 year old Shih-Tzu that was "rescued" from an abusive family for all of her first 10 months of life. It took more than a year to get her over her fear of people (mostly men)...After having her for over two years now, she finally loves my husband, and loves it when my son comes to visit. She is a wonderful dog...although she still has her little quirks...I wouldn't trade her for the world! Every time I look at her, I thank God her path in life led her to me! May you and your beautiful Brandi enjoy many many years of happiness together! You are both very special.

TOBY

New picture of my Chihuahua Maltese Toby (now 8 months old and 5 pounds). His hair has grown so much, and I find that I have to brush and comb him daily to keep it tangle free.

He is still very playful, and he chews everything!! We had to stop giving him any fabric type toys (even like the one next to him), as he shreds and eats them.

I'm feeling guilty today, my Chihuahua Maltese mix is going in to get neutered this weekend, and I have such mixed feelings on doing it.

good thing to have him fixed. he wont care and you will have a nicer little dog for it. he looks like he definitely has the maltese coat. it will require lots of grooming. you could have him cut in what they call a puppy cut, leaving a little topknot on his head. that is really cute and very easy to care for. my maltese dogs love getting clipped short. he sure is a little cutie. enjoy!

Toby
by: Little Miss Muffit

Your little Toby is adorable! I have a Morky that is a Yorkie/Maltese mix. She turns 9 mo. old tomorrow and weighs 6 1/2 lbs. I had her spayed when she was 6 mo. old and she did very well. I was the worrier, too. She acted like it was nothing. I had to wrap an ace bandage around her till the stitches could come out as she pulled out a stitch as soon as I got her home. She looked funny, but she didn't pull the bandage off and healed fine. I think dogs that are spayed are much better behaved than those who aren't. Muffit is a clown, full of life and attitude. She loves to be everywhere I am. She learns fast. I cut her hair for the summer. She looks so adorable that way, and it's so much easier to take care of since we are outdoors more. She reminds me of a little tiny white lamb!! Her ears could not make up their mind to be up or down, but when I had them trimmed--both ears now perk up and look really cute. Grooming is simpler with the short cut, too. These little mixes are the sweetest dogs ever!

My Malchi dog Dushi is almost 1 year old, and he is really happy and always sweet. His father is a Chihuahua and his mom a Maltese. His weight is 2,5 kilogram. He has really funny hair, when he don't go to the trimmer his hair is really thin and fluffy its looks a bit lost. But now has he a short haircut, he is almost tottally white with a few brown spots. I like to buy another little Malchi so if someone knows a breeder in Holland let me know!!!I love Malchi dogs (L)
