Maltese Chihuahua - Cutsie

by Patricia Sanders

What you say?

What you say?

Our Maltese Chihuahua is definitely a character. Loves to play with you, whether it is with toys or coming around your backside playing Peek a Boo. She keeps our other 3 little dogs on their toes. She is Smart, playful and loves to cuddle.

She was potty trained in less than 3 days at 1 month. She is trained to use a pad, unless taken outside to potty. She loves to play with toys and is also willing to share the toys with our other dogs.

Our Maltese Chihuahua mix learns fast. She learned to sit, stay, and come before she was two months old.

Her hair is so wild, her white Maltese hair sticks up all over, makes her look like she always has a bad hair day. Underneath that Maltese hair right down the center of her back is the short tan hair like her mother the Chihuahua.

I love this dog so much. She is playful, minding, and loves to sit on your chest to be cuddled.

Maltese/Chihuahua are the best
by: Karen Gause

Oh my gosh your baby looks a lot like our baby! Everything you shared was like a mirror image of ours (Sassy). I am so in love with this puppy (11 months) her B-Day is August 30th. She to is pad trained and was when I got her. She is a rescue pup and her foster mom said she tried to housebreak her but she would not go outside. Never but now older and she does pee outside sometimes now. Anyway Sassy is such a joy and glad you love yours as much! A great mix!!!

I have a Maltese Chihuahua. Beau is about 18 mo and a delightful companion. He is so good. Easy to potty train, very loving with people and loves other dogs. Our only training problem (which is probably really ours) is that he RUNS! He will come at command, sometimes.

My concerns are his joints on his legs. The vet has said it is hips and knees. He does not whine, but limps all the time. However, it does not slow him down. He loves to race back and forth in backyard. Has anyone found any help for joints. I have just started using joint supplements to give them a try.

I just said goodbye to my Maltese Chihuahua Scruffy. She was almost 9 years old and by far the best dog ever. She never snapped or so much as growled at another person!

She will be missed. And while I know that I can't replace her and I will definitely consider another of Maltese Chihuahua!

Your loss
by: Highline

It's now a year later and I'm sure Scruffy's memory is still with you always. I know the heartache you feel, losing what was once such a blessing to have. Hopefully you have opened your heart up to another, as of course none could replace Scruffy but another could fill such a voice with love. Blessings to you. Highline Pups

by: Anonymous

Very sorry to hear about your loss. It is never easy to say good-bye but what an adorable picture to treasure always. Although nothing will ever replace the love you have for that pet after time has passed you may want to share your love with another four-legged friend. They bring such joy and unconditional love to your life and from the picture of Scruffy, I feel she knew she was loved from the momment you took her home.

Maltese Chihuahua - Elmo

by Maddison
(Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

My Maltese Chihuahua is a beautiful little dog, with black spots on his white fur and tan face, who wouldn't want one?

TRAINING and OBEDIENCE - he was a breeze to train and is a very quick learner when rewarded.

TOILET - my Maltese Chihuahua mix has learned to go number ones when we tell him to, but number twos are sometimes still found around the house.

OTHER DOGS - he gets along pretty well with our other two dogs.

When he sees another dog walking down the street he used to bark, but with a stern ah-ah, he soon learned to cut it out.

Also, he does bark at anyone whom he cannot see, so if he hears someone in the middle of the night he will bark at them.

STRANGER DANGER - with strangers he is lovely, and social, so no aggression shown.

CHILDREN - he likes kids, he licks them quite a bit. Nothing to worry about so far.

Overall my Maltese Chihuahua is a great dog with a fabulous personality.

Maltese Chihuahua - Biscuit

by Samantha
(West Virginia)

My Maltese Chihuahua is very timid like the Chihuahua, but she is also very lovable to those she's closest to like the Maltese. On her good days, she tends to be very playful. When she's bored she'll sleep, and once she is asleep she likes to keep it that way. She's a very good dog, although she is very protective.

When a stranger or someone she doesn't know is near our home she'll start barking to let us know someone is there. She is a very tough little dog; she stands her ground even against bigger dogs. Her mother was full Maltese, and her Father is full Chihuahua.

Our Maltese Chihuahua Luci Lu is 10 feet tall and bulletproof. She beats up the kitten and Barni the Beagle. We go visiting (socializing) quite a bit and she beats up her cousins the Golden Retrievers. Actually they all play and socialization is very important to us.

She loves her whole family, especially her mommy. It can be a trial to keep her on task with training as she has the attention span of a gnat. She is the cutest and there isn't a mean bone in her body. Our Maltese Chihuahua mix makes me laugh every day.

Very energetic and loving Maltese Chihuahua. She is extremely personable and protective of the house. She loves attention but can be sceptical when people approach her (she was adopted from the shelter and found on the streets pregnant and lost all her puppies) Dispite her trauma, our Maltese Chihuahua is an amazing asset to our family and just a joy to be around.

Maltese Chihuahua - Lily

Lily

Lily

My Maltese Chihuahua Lily's mom is a long haired Chihuahua and her dad is a Maltese. Lily is 15 months old and weighs about 4.5 lbs. She is the sweetest little girl, and so pretty! Just a cuddler, she is happiest on my lap, (as she is right now) but gets along great with my Aussie and the two cats. Lily has been really hard to housebreak, but lately she is doing much better! She gets along with all of my grandchildren, seems to genuinely like them, even the youngest, who is not quite two. She is also fine with my daughter's 3 Mastiffs, but if they come near while she is on my lap, she will growl and warn them away! It's pretty funny to see. I really wouldn't trade my Maltese Chihuahua's sweet little face for anything!

Maltese Chihuahua - Dinky Daisy

Dinky Daisy has the look of love in her eyes!

Dinky Daisy has the look of love in her eyes!

Dinky Daisy the Maltese Chihuahua has her own page at Facebook... "Darling Dinky Daisy The Diva Dog". She loves to pose for photos and "Makes Love To The Camera". She is gentle and intelligent and oh so loving. She loves to have her tummy rubbed, and has dainty little habits. I've never had to punish her, but when she was young, she would often try to get her own way about things. I learned to sing to her to get her to look at me for photo sessions. Her favorite song is, "I'll give you a Daisy a Day Dear... I'll give you a Daisy a Day... I'll love you until, all the rivers run still, and the mountains we know blow away!"

Daisy has a soft, thick undercoat, and a silky outer coat. She's easy to care for. I trim around her eyes for her. My Maltese Chihuahua mix does have problems with her knees going out of joint, and I sometimes have to give her pain pills. She's no longer up to rough play with larger dogs, and will hide under a bush until they go away! She's almost 4 now. This photo was taken on her second Birthday. She's friendly and affectionate with friends and family, and loves other little dogs. She hasn't seen many small childen and will avoid them when they're around. I think she's the sweetest, gentlest, prettiest little dog in the world. A perfect companion. And I'm sure if you were to bring home a Malchi you would be very glad you did. Daisy sends Tail Wags and Puppy Kisses to you all! Woof!

Love This Dog / Adorable
by: Jennifer Stooksbury

I just lost my precious sweet baby girl two weeks ago. This dog has been an absolute joy to our family. When I came across Dinky Daisy's picture I found Holly's Twin Sister. What a delight to see this picture. Dinky Daisy does have the look of love in her eyes. Holly also had the love look in her eyes. When we were searching for a dog online my seven year old said "Momma can we get this little dog? I love her sweet eyes"
Dinky Daisy you are beautiful and sweet. You remind me so much of my sweet little Holly.
Keep posting your beautiful pictures.

Nick
by: mjd

We had the most wonderful gift of Nick for almost 14 years. I got him at 7 wks old and about 1 1/2 lbs. He was beautiful white and blond and carried features of both Chihuahua and Maltese. He was so spoiled he expected and received presents frequently - especially at Christmas. We felt him to be brilliant on an animal scale and in relating to us, he was very close to human. We understood his actions/intentions and he ours. About 5 months ago his attitude started becoming surly and he actually would bite you if you handled him at times - when prior to that he would beg to be held. He quickly lost his vision and had trouble getting around on uneven surfaces. The vet brushed us off said he was old and just plain crazy. This past Sunday our darling Nick had a seizure which quickly turned into one about every 3 hours. We carried him back to the vet who then told us he most likely had a brain tumor. Said we could try seizure meds but at best they would make him sleep constantly and at worst would do no good. Not able to bear watching him in such pain, we had him put down. Needless to say both my husband and I are heartbroken; the house is like a tomb without our little boy.

Honor Sivess
by: Anonymous

I was sad to read about the passing of your Sivess. I did not have a maltese/chihuahua but I had a very special chihuahua named Toro for 13 years He was my husband's constant companion when he became ill with cancer. After he passed away Toro and I grieved together.I can barely put into word how much i cried when Toro died unexpectedly. We went thru so much together. But I think now they are walking the warm shores of Heaven together. I have another pupdog now and I love her dearly but there will always be that part of my heart for Toro. The blessings will be great if you honor Sivess by giving love to another pupdog of any breed!

Sorry about your puppy
by: Susan

I have been through losing my precious dog who was my baby girl. She was a Miniature Schnauzer who I had from the time she was 6 weeks. She was 11 yrs. when she died but we really had no warning that something was wrong. She was fine one day and the next she was very sick. The vet said her kidneys had just shut down. I held her the whole time the day and night before we had to put her down. She would look at me with such love in her eyes. I could tell she was telling me that it was time for her to go and that she would be okay but that doesn't really help the pain we feel. People grieve for their beloved pets more than they do for even a family member. I held Abby in my arms when we put her down, I wanted my face to be the last thing she saw. I was sure my heart would just break in half. I cried for days constantly and for several weeks after. I had her cremated so I would have her ashes. I am a strong believer in Sylvia Browne who is a christian psychic who wrote a book called All Pets Go To Heaven. You can probably get it at a library. It helped me so much to accept that Abby was gone but yet she would always be with me. Another writing to help is the story called Rainbow Bridge. You can find that here on the internet. I know that Abby crossed that Rainbow Bridge to the Other Side (heaven) and is young and healthy again and playing with all the other animals that have passed over. I also know for sure that she is waiting for me when it's my time to cross over. She will be the first one there to greet me and we will never be seperated again. I had doubts about getting another puppy as I wasn't sure I could love it as I loved Abby. One night I had a very vivid dream that Abby came to me and told me that she wanted me to get another puppy. She wanted that puppy to be as loved as she had been. I did get a puppy, a tiny Maltese/Yorkie mix (a morkie). Belle is my sweet baby girl and I do love her just like I did Abby. A small part of my heart will always be with Abby and sometimes I see her in the hallway or around a corner and at night I feel her flop against me in bed as she used to do. She will always be looking after me. Please, find another puppy to give your love to, we get so very much in return from them.
Good luck and know your baby Sivess is happy and you will be together again.

Angel - Maltese Chihuahua

by Katherine
(Phoenix, AZ)

My little Angel

My little Angel

Angel is the sweetest little doggie. She's about 8 lbs and she was a rescue. She was abused before I got her and was very scared of people in general when I got her, but she became attached to me immediately. She is not scared of people anymore, but it takes her a little while to warm up to people. She is about 7 years old and was about 2 when I got her.

She is cream colored and has 2 types of hair--super soft Maltese type hair on her head and kind of wiry but still soft hair on her back. She sheds some--less than full blooded Chihuahuas. When her hair is long she looks almost like a full blooded Maltese. When she is shaved, you can see the prominent eyes and slightly apple shaped head like a Chihuahua.

She doesn't bark much--only when someone comes to the door or occasionally when another dog is barking at her (she usually only barks at bigger dogs if there is a fence or something between them). She likes to sleep under blankets.

Jazzmyn is a 7 month old Maltese Chihuahua. She is a happy go lucky doggie who loves to run circles in our backyard.

She is quite a chewer and loves toys. She's a cuddler, licker but not a kisser. She hates to be alone but that's not a problem since we have another doggie who is a great big sister to her.

UPDATE: Now that she is getting older I don't think she's looking like she has any Chihuahua in her. I think she looks more like a Malshi or Havamalt. What does everyone else think?

Maltese Chihuahua - Ruffles

by Linda Edwards
(Honea Path, SC USA)

Ruffles the Maltese Chihuahua mix was born as a result of a Maltese sneaking into the yard of my cousin's Chihuahau. On Christmas day, when we were at my cousin's house, the litter was born as we watched. Weeks later, when we returned "just to look," we fell in love with a little white fluffy baby girl. We took her home at 8 weeks of age, and Ruffles was the BEST dog I've ever had. She was the smartest, learning tricks so very quickly. She knew all kinds of tricks within the first week. We also taught her to ring a bell placed at the door to let us know when she wanted to go out. She soon learned to ring it just when she wanted attention. Ruffy was extremely friendly and loved everyone. We lovingly called her the "wisest, justest, and best." Our Maltese Chihuahua is long gone now, but I still miss her desperately and have never had a better dog. The photo shows her playing chess with my brother (she won).

Smart Maltese Chihuahua - Oscar Warwick

by Jessica Venner
(London, England)

My Maltese Chihuahua is feisty, loyal and playful character full of fun and love, only willing to please.

Oscar is an extremely intelligent dog, learning the commands sit and 'have a rest' (ie lay!) within 10 minutes each... and he remembered them! He can eat for England, despite his size, and being hand reared, he is very used to and good with humans. He lives with my staff/border collie/whippet cross mongrel of whom we rescued from the RSPCA. They really are a team and despite the great difference in size, get on extremely well!

He has a tendency to hang off of my other dogs collar and makes a funny growly noise when playing but it is less aggression and more playfulness. Just like chihuahuas really!

My Maltese Chihuahua mix loves cuddles, is definitely a lap dog (when he has finally run out of energy and isnt wriggling about everywhere and charging from room to room!) He is extremely brave and makes the occasional bark to try and protect me from moving doors in the wind and other scary things.

Really good on a lead, and gives constant kisses like theres no tomorrow! Also greets anyone that comes into the house very excitedly and greets new people as if he has always known them! He also loves being carried and fussed and loves playing with toys much bigger than he is. He has a funny habit of hiding under things, such as rugs and pillows! So cute.

Furthermore, an important point, I took him to a school fayre where he was constantly fussed by many hands at only 4 months and was perfect, made no fuss and was very friendly!

If you have the opportunity to get a Malchi, do not hesitate. They don't malt, they are very loyal, playful and they don't take up any room (or money!) at all!

Maltese Chihuahua - Bumblebee

he loves kids

he loves kids

Well our Maltese Chihuahua Bumblebee is alive and alert at all times. He got attached to us really fast and alerts people if they get to close. He is always so happy and is like lightning when you let him out the door to play. He loves to swim and is great with kids. and i dont worry so much about the kids hurting him since he is not as fragile as a Chihuahua would be.

He loves to snuggle in bed and pretty much loves to be where ever we are. He seems to get more close to the kids. All in all our Maltese Chihuahua mix just a small bundle of joy that loves to run and play is protective over his family and when night falls, just loves to sunggle down with you.
