Silky Cocker - Kenshin

Playtime

My Silky Cocker Kenshin was given to me as a retirement/going-away present by one of the civilian employees at the USAF recreational resort in northern Okinawa that served as my last duty station.

He was about the size of a small coffee mug when I first met him and everyone thought even then that he was to be a very special dog. My Maltese Cocker mix was the sole male of a litter of 4 pups and the most boisterous even at an early age. His "grandpa" (the owner's dad) even implored that Ken stayed with him instead but Kumiko insisted that he'd already been a given to me. Just my luck she didn't cave in to her dad's request. At our final goodbye, HE was given a grand bon voyage party by his Okinawan family.

We traveled by ferry to Tokyo to meet up with my family at the AF base there. We stayed nearly a year in Tokyo before we had to move again to my retirement home of selection in Manila, the Republic of the Philippines.

You're right. A Maltese Cocker like Ken is VERY intelligent, loyal to his family and doesn't care too much to be left alone. But he housebroke really well and calls to be let out and even holds things in just in case we can't get to him in time. We trains fast and remembers lessons learned. He even knows what toy to play with whom. Speaking of play, saying these dogs are energetic is an understatement. We don't know where he gets his energy from; perhaps from the daily half-cups of low-fat milk he drinks. Or the fruit he eats. As you may know, fresh fruit is plentiful in the tropics so he eats pretty much most varieties.

Being recently retired from active service, I am a bit discombobulated but Ken has helped me as well as my wife stay focused so we can forged ahead past our former lives. Our only daughter, who's away in a stateside college, misses him dearly and we're on Skype everyday just so she can keep tabs on him.

We don't want to imagine life without Ken. I'm fortunate he was given to me. I can't thank Kumiko enough. EVERYONE should have a Silky Cocker!

Silky Cocker - Max

by Theresa Navarro
(Rancho Cucamonga, CA)

Max & Jax

Max & Jax

Max is a white Silky Cocker with semi-tan ears. He is 9 pounds and almost a year old. He is very friendly and gets along with everyone and all dogs. He is very friendly with other dogs, unless they decide to pick on him. Then, Max has to voice his opinion.

He does not like being left alone and follows you everywhere. His big brother is a 3 year old Scottish Terrier named Jax. Max looks up to him and is his shadow. Max does have a tendency to bark when he hears someone at the door or when he sees someone or some dog walking by from the balcony.

He is very obedient and loves to bring in dried leaves half the size of his body in from outside to chew. He is very lovable and very loyal. We would love to breed him at the appropriate time, but we have never seen a Silky Cocker who looks like him.

Wowwwww. I can not belive how much our dogs look alike. My dog's name is "Cheecho" got him in Oct 2010 at 8 weeks old. He was 5 pounds. He is now 9 months old and he is very big. He has to be over 25 pounds now. He looks as though he is getting bigger by the day. So I have to tell you. Be carefull on how much you feed him. He will grow fast!
But I would like you to see a pic of my Cheecho since you have never seen a dog like yours. Please feel free to email me at Krisdonut@aol.com and I would be happy to show you a lot of pics.

Kris.

Sweet Silky Cocker - Lola

by Teresa Connolly
(Chillicothe, OH)

Lola is the most loving, sweet dog ever!! She is two years old, she is a very calm lap dog, loves to cuddle, but can be very crazy when she's running and playing on the floor! She is the best dog to travel with, she doesn't hardly ever bark, except at other dogs that provoke her.

I have to say she was a little difficult to potty train, but now has no problems. She is very loyal, she follows me everywhere. She is great with kids, and is my little spoiled baby!! I would recommend this breed of dog to anyone that has the time and love to give.

Silky Cocker - Molly

by Keri and Jason
(Kentucky)

Our Silky Cocker Molly is very loving and loyal to my family! She was really easy to potty train and never has an accident! But she really loves to be outside and rolling around in the grass.

She is wonderful with other people and plays well with kids and other animals. We never knew anything about her breed until I found this website!! But she HATES to be left alone! She has chewed up all of the kitchen flooring trying to get out the door!

Also, she likes to have her own space. She isn't too cuddly unless she wants to be! I would love to have another one as soon as I find another Silky Cocker breeder!

Silky Cocker - Lexi

by Karson
(Florida, USA)

Lexi, the happy 3 year old Silky Cocker!

Lexi, the happy 3 year old Silky Cocker!

Lexi is a very playful, fun, loving 3 year old Silky Cocker! Lexi has a white coat and patch of buff coloring on her back and on the bottom of her ears. She has very caring eyes and is also very affectionate - she loves to give kisses!

Our Maltese Silky Terrier mix Lexi loves to play with her many toys, especially tug-of-war. She also has lots of energy and loves running around outside or even finding a sunny patch of grass just to lay down in for a while. Wile having lots of energy, Lexi can also be very relaxed, always cuddling up with us or laying at our feet. Lexi loves to follow all of our family members around the house, curious as to where we are going or what we are doing.

She also loves our other family pet, Coal, our cat; she follows him around outside and always tries to play with him. Lexi can become shy or afraid of strangers and unknown dogs. With this, Lexi may tend to bark at people she is afraid of; however, Lexi is very gentle and never bites anyone. Even while playing, Lexi's playful bites are actually very soft; it's as if she doesn't want to hurt us so she is gentle. Lexi is not a fan of baths but she loves getting to go for car rides and walks!

All in all, our Silky Cocker Lexi is such a wonderful, caring and loyal dog and our family wouldn't be complete without her!

Silky Cocker - Hally

by Melissa
(Pembroke Pines, Florida)

She is a 3 year old magnificent "baby". (that is what everybody thinks: she is a baby). The fact is that our Silky Cocker Hally is the most lovely dog ever. She is less than 10 pouts now, with white silky hair, little beige in her ears.

She was born in Panama. We had Fusy, a Cocker 7 years old female dog and adopted a 5 years old Maltese. We thought Fusy was not fertile anymore, until one day my daughter called me telling Fusy had just given birth to a little pink puppy right under my bed. That was our Maltese Cocker Spaniel mix Hally.

We moved to South Florida and brought Hally with us. She is the perfect company for my 85 years old mother in law, who just adored her. She walks behind here every where she goes.

She loves playing and running in the backyard, but just for a while. Soon she will come back to lay by your side.

She will bark to anything moving around the house
All my husband's family have become crazy about Hally. Not only is our Silky Cocker beautiful, but she has the best disposition.
