Maltese Mix - Pid (Piddle Pup)

GROOMING POSE

GROOMING POSE

My Maltese mix was a rescue and the absolute best ever. Got him at 9 wks and he's now 7 yrs. old - VERY healthy, happy, so easy to manage-doesn't shed, doesn't smell, great traveler, very affectionate-gets along with kids, cats and other dogs big and small-great watchdog too.

Has been my stability for past 5 years with family deaths-he has been my savior (hubby too). Always had Retrievers or Pointers-never considered a small dog.

If you want a dog and have limitations or restrictions in your life, cannot impress what this breed will do for you. Have heard Maltese mixed with others equally great.
He keeps me laughing.

Pid is the Greatest
by: Anonymous

So wonderful that your rescue dog has rescued you. I think that we don't always get the dog we want, but fate sees that we get the dog we need. Our beloved husky Max died of anal cancer last summer and our little peek-a-poo died at age 19. We have a 13 year-old golden that is having difficulty getting around. We bought a little malti-poo puppy and rescued a 90 pound malamute from the shelter. Both the tiny malti-poo at a year old she just weighs 6 pounds and the Mal get along great. The golden acts like the malti-poo's nanny. She seems to like mothering the pup. The Malamute looks a lot like our husky, but is much more mellow. My mother's lhapso was put to sleep last month at
age 20! We thought we'd raise the malti-poo to
be a companion to my 85 year-old mother, but she
doesn't feel she can handle all the energy. We litterbox trained our malti-poo so my Mom wouldn't have to go out in inclement weather.
I'm bringing my Mom for an extended visit..we'll see. I don't want my Mom to be alone.

What Maltese Mix is She?

by Mishel
(Chicago)

Sorry for the bad quality.

Sorry for the bad quality.

We got Cookie from a shelter a few weeks ago & on her records it shows she is a Maltese mix but we don't know what breed she's mixed with. Please help me figure it out, I'd love to know.

Cookie's height from the bottom of her paw to the top of her head is about 15 inches. Her length from the tip of her nose to her butt is about 22 inches.

Cookie's length from the tip of her nose to the end of her tail is about 30 inches. Our Maltese mixes length of her legs are about 7 inches.

Cookie's weight on her last checkup was about 14.5 lbs. She turned one on May 18th and is fully white furred.

Please and Thank you x a million!

I have the same problem. I rescued a mix and I have no idea what he's mixed with! I'm not going to do the genetic test stuff. I love him and it really doesn't matter, but I do wonder.

Very Cute
by: Anonymous

As a previous Dachshund owner, her size and her front legs appears to be very much like a Dachshund. Depending on which type of Dachshund (smooth, wire, or longhaired) she could be mixed with. But to be 100% sure get a DNA test and find out so you can get info on the health problems of the particular breed. No matter, she is adorable. Good look!

adorable mixed mama!
by: misabellas mommy

she looks a bit like a malshi - shihtzu maltese mix - my baby is supposedly 100% maltese - I met her mama and daddy - BUT - she also looks like a bit of bichon or shihtzu is in her and her sister from a previous litter is 14 pounds - not quite what I'd call a purebreed - so - since mutts (mixed blends) live longer - I hope my presumption is correct! ;-) for both of us!

what breed
by: Susan

First of all, she is adorable! I can see the Maltese in her, especially the face. I have a Morkie but I'm not sure that's what you have. Belle is 1 1/2 yrs and weighs 7 pounds. Most Maltese don't get all that big either. From her legs and feet I'd say for sure not a Morkie as they usually have very tiny feet. I would go to Petsmart and get a DNA home test kit to be sure what she is. I know it doesn't matter as we love them anyway but knowing what mix she is may alert you to any kind of future medical problems to look for in the breed. Be eager to hear if you do the test. Again, she is a darling.
Good luck with your new baby

Breed?
by: Little Miss Muffit

Your little cutie looks a lot like my Miss Muffit who is a Maltese/Yorkie cross--Morkie. Same coloring and eyes. Since yours is twice as big as mine, she is probably more Maltese possibly mixed with a bigger terrier. Hard to say. She's adorable, so who cares? Enjoy!

Chance - What Maltese Mix

by Patricia
(Lewisville,TX, USA)

"How's this mom?"

I adopted my little guy, "Chance" who is about three months old from a rescue place in Rising Star TX called Arfn's Dog rescue on Friday, August 29, 2008.

I am a single mom and am on disability from having Fibromyalgia, a form of Rheumatoid Arthritis, nerve damage, as well as several herniated discs in my back. I live in chronic pain and had been searching for that perfect dog for over two years. I wanted a little girl dog to be my best friend, lifetime companion ,to take walks with everyday, to talk to when no one else will listen, and to spoil for a lifetime, and I really didn't want a young puppy, that is until... I found "Chance" on Petfinder who at first, was thought to be a girl! I was on my way from Lewisville, TX to Rising Star TX when I received the call telling me She was a He! The moment I saw Chance, I just KNEW HE was "The One!" It was love at first sight!

Unfortunately, Chance came down with Parvo the very next day. Thanks to my mom who is a dog lover, I was able to take Chance to a great 24 hour animal hospital in Plano TX for treatment, as I live on a VERY tight budget and didn't have the money to treat him for such a dreadful disease. I had first named chance "Levi". I prayed and asked God to give him a chance at life and God answered my prayers, that is when I changed his name to Chance.

After Chance survived Parvo, he came down with kennel cough so he had to go through yet another round of antibiotics.

Chancey is a fighter! Today he is doing fabulous!!! he is healthy, gotten his second puppy shot, is eating well, and gaining weight. He is the sweetest, strongest, cutest, smartest, most curious and fearless little dog I've ever met! Chance is already housebroken, uses a doggie door, and knows how to sit, stay, walks great on a leash, and twirls around on his hind legs when I say, "What ya gunna do?" for a treat, or for his breakfast or dinner. he is learning how to speak and shake.

He is my little buddy, no - more like my "Soul mate!" I am not certain of what he is mixed with, but my guess is Maltese, Jack Russell Terrier. What do Y'all think??? Chancey has little spots on his right ear, and as you can see the Blue merle over his left eye. His coat is soft and broken.

I remember you and Chance very well. You had quite a time in the beginning with him. I called "her" Talulah...remember??? I check my babies very well to make sure they have the right "equipment". LOL...

I had just gotten him from the shelter days before he went to you and he was incubating the virus.

So good to hear this wonderful story!

Chance is Adorable

I can see why it was love at first sight when you laid your eyes on Chance. What a cutie. I love his markings. I can't tell what hitched up with a Maltese, could be a Jack Russell. What ever it was it produced a winner. I too have Fibromyalgia among other ailments. I have a Maltese, Dixie, about to turn 1 yr. old. She has brought joy into my life and taken my mind off of myself. Life savers all, aren't they?
Good luck to you and to your little Chance. May you have many healthy years of joy and love together.

Izzabella - Maltese Mix Dog

by Keri Cruzat
(California)

I don't know if Miss Izzy is a designer dog. I had to put my Corgi (old fellow...very handsome) down on July 18th. My sister, who lives in a small town found this little mutt at the dog shelter. She brought her out, and I didn't want her. I just couldn't love anyone but my Rufus. My sister left, she was visiting me, and she left this little white/champagne colored puppy with me. I have to admit, reluctantly, that I dote upon this little sweet soft angel. This will sound weird, but I love her. I still miss my Rufus, but Izzy is filling in the holes in my heart.

I think she may have Poodle and Maltese blood. She's very small and very smart.

So, please add me to this website. I thought I was a Corgi person, but True Love, no matter what shape... is still a road back to happiness!

I cry everyday, but this precious enchanting creature actually licks my tears away.

Maltese Mix? - Travis Ray

by Diane Harris
(Columbus, GA)

We adopted our supposed Maltese mix from a local shelter where he had been tossed over their 10 ft. fence on a cold night. He was all matted, tested heart worm postive, had an undescended testicle, and overall very neglected. I read his story and adopted him the next day. He was shaven down to the skin when we got him so we had no idea how he would actually look. He has turned out beautiful and now in perfect health. The vet and groomer were in agreement that he was a Maltese and Lhasa Apso (Lhatese) mix. BUT, now that the weather has turned warm he has begun to shed. Neither of those breeds are shedders so we are confused. If we didn't keep him trimed his white hair would drag the floor so the Maltese is there somewhere. We just can't decide what else. He is just precious and I would take a million for him.

Mignon - Papitese?

by Miggy Mom
(St. Paul, MN)

Miggy pointing at a squirrel

Miggy pointing at a squirrel

Mignon, who may be a Papitese, (aka Miggy or MiggyDog @ Twitter)is the perfect dog for us and loved by all who are exposed to his charms. The breeder said he was Maltese Papillon and his body and ears are like a Pap but his fur is wiry and his nose is pink, so we think he may have some terrier and may be a Mal-Chi.

He is five years old, about 8 pounds, and while he can really play at dog park or take long walks without getting much tired, he is generally happy to coach potato on our laps. We joke he is half-cat, they way he likes to cuddle. He is tolerant of kids but not overly fond of them, most like because he is not exposed to them much. He gets along with his cat brother great, they chase each other all the time. He is very smart and easy to train and is litter box trained and is very fast. When he was a puppy he was a bit of an escape artist but now he listens pretty well. His signature cute move is to let his left ear flop, cock his head to the side and ever so slightly stick out his tongue. He also "points" sometimes like a hunting dog.

Let us know what mix breed you think he might be, whether it is Papitese, Malchi, or something else.

What am I???? Besides cute!!!!

What am I???? Besides cute!!!!

My daughter adopted Bella at the Phoenix Campus for Compassion back in June 2008. She is a sweet terrier mix.

Looking at the Maltese mix website, I think she could be a Maltese mix. The Humane Society said she was a border terrier, but I don't think so. What do you think?

She looks a LOT like my 1/2 Maltese, 1/2 Rat Terrier Doc. I am certain of Doc's heritage as I purchased him from a breeder. His mother is a full Maltese and his father is a full Rat Terrier. I recently posted some pics of him on this site.

Maltese Mix Dog - Violet

by Chris
(Hammond)

My Maltese mix dog is sweet and loving - a follower not a leader. Violet is like a live stuffed animal; the kind you can bend into any angle and is comparable to a ferret. At 8 months old she is extremely light weighing 5.5 pounds and stands 7 inches tall. She is whitish cream colored with black ears and a black feathery tail and resembles a "Benji" dog. Violet has beautiful large round black eyes. Her hair is very thick and super soft. She always comes when she is called. I discovered her at our local shelter full of mats and starving for attention. My Maltese mix gets along well with our other dogs. Everybody that sees her wants her. We are lucky to have her.

I'm not sure what kind of Maltese mix dog I have. Was told he was a Westie. Since then he grew up and only weighs around 8#'s. Has long hair, brown nose, (was black when we got him) and curly tail. A very smart dog. Maybe someone can help. We were told Westie Maltese mix or Westie Pom mix. What do you think?

I have been told that and my wife is beginning to think that as well. He is full of energy. We haven't given him a hair cut in a while. He gets a bath regularly and brushed. Does well with them. Very smart. My wife has a female healer and the fact she is 5x's his size makes no difference. He plays rough. And she loves it as well. Don't worry. She has been spayed. No Westie-Malt-Healers. Lol.
