Bichon Frise Maltese Mix - Colie Rose

by Brianna Savoca & Austin Beyke
(Athens, OH)

Colie's 1st Christmas

Colie's 1st Christmas

My Bichon Frise Maltese mix Colie acts like a little fluffy princess. She is undoubtedly a diva dog, but only in a good way. Colie thrives on attention and loves being around ANYONE. She greets anyone who walks in our door with a hello kiss and a welcome dance on her hind legs. She loves cuddling and is definitely a lap dog. Plus, she loves wearing clothes.

Colie weighs about 8 pounds. Her mother was a 10 pound Bichon Frise, and her father was a 5 pound Maltese. Plus she was the runt, so she stayed on the smaller size and weighs right in the middle of her parents. Her hair is very soft, with only a slight bit of curl. She takes after the Maltese side slightly more than the Bichon side.

Colie does not shed, and she is hypo-allergenic. She picked up on potty training quickly, but it definitely helped that we got her in the winter. She hates being out in the cold too long, so she learned to do her business and get inside. We tried teaching her potty pads and the grass pad, but she did NOT like either.

Colie learned tricks at a very early age. She knows sit, lay, stay, paw, dance, roll over, high-five, and flips (where she does a backwards half-flip spin). My Bichon Maltese mix is an extremely intelligent and perceptive dog. She responds to mommy & daddy's emotions constantly- she knows when we are sad and recognizes when we are happy, and she always joins in the celebration or comforts us too.

Colie is an amazing dog. I am so thankful we got her. She is a blessing and brings so much happiness to my life. If you are looking at a Maltichon, they are a wonderful breed. Good luck, and love your puppy because they will love you back more than you ever thought possible.

Bichon Frise Maltese Mix - Jeter

by Sandra
(Austin)

Just hanging out

Just hanging out

Our Bichon Frise Maltese mix Jeter is named after Yankees player Derek Jeter. When I first brought him home a Yankees game was on and he just jumped and stared at the television once Jeter was announced. He is now 2 years old.

Jeter was very hard to potty train, but one day he just said, "I'm done peeing on mommy's floors." So, when we moved into a new home he loved it. Our Bichon Frise Maltese has not had an accident inside ever since. He is very playful and gets burst of energy then stops to lay on the cool tile. Jeter loves toys! He will search and search his toy basket until he finds the one he is currently interested in. It's like he is thinking "wait, I know I put that in here the other day." Everyone loves Jeter!

Bichon Frise Maltese Mix - Bella

About two weeks ago, we rescued our sweetheart Bella. We know she is a Maltese mix. However, some say she is a Maltipoo while others see Bichon in her.

She's extremely intelligent. From the time we brought her home, she has had only one accident in our house. She goes to the door when she needs to go out. As for her intelligence, within a couple of days she has learned how to manipulate her way around the furniture so she can get on the bed to cuddle with us. She already knows place her toys in her designated basket. However, on a comical note, she will sit at the window at night and bark at her own reflection. When we tell her it is her reflection she will look at us with this embarrass look then walk away.

Kids... I can't begin to tell you how much the neighborhood kids love her not to mention my neice and nephew.

I have uploaded a picture of my beloved baby. I would appreciate someone could help shed some light on Bella's breed for me. Is she a Bichon Frise Maltese mix, Maltese Poodle mix, or something else? I've taken her to the groomer twice and two vets and have gotten four different stories.
