Male Maltipom - Bobby

Bobby The Maltipom

Bobby The Maltipom

My male Maltipom dog Bobby is 2.5yrs old. He is such a clown and loves to play. He makes us laugh everyday. He is also the most affectionate dog, always up for cuddles and loves to be near us. My Maltese Pomeranian mix is very in tune with our emotions and very sensitive to us as pack leaders, never willingly putting a foot out of place, but he has a fun naughty streak. Very little grooming, he is practically self cleaning! I wouldn't hesitate to get another Maltipom. They are absolutely fantastic.

Male Maltipom - Huckleberry

by Lois
(Pennsylvania)

Huckleberry is a male Maltipom and will be 2 in August. We have had him since he was 10 weeks old and he is such a joy.

My Maltese Pomeranian is so intelligent and very quick to learn! Within a few days of bringing him to his new home, we hung a bell at our back door and showed him how to ring it. After three tries, he knew what to do and from that point on he was potty trained. He LOVES attention and can get a little feisty if he feels he's being ignored.

He loves all other dogs (regardless of size). He has been to Puppy School and Intermediate School and did very well in both classes. He LOVES water and we've had to fence in our backyard pond to keep him from jumping in.

Grey Maltipom - Charlee

by Michelle Crane
(Birmingham, Alabama)

Charlee is turning 1 or should I say 7 on the 7th of July, when I was looking for a dog I didn't think I was going to get a Maltipom I was looking for a Maltese. I was under the impression he was a Maltese. Then the owner informed me he was a Maltipom. He was so cute and black as could be with a tip of red at the end of his hair and his nose with a touch of grey, he was a present for my daughter's eighth birthday. When she saw him that was it, I didn't look anymore.

He is so easy tempered and very well trained, he caught on so quickly and still does. He has some many tricks that we have trained him to do, sit, shack, turn dance and sorry to say but die. He can do all this with one demand in that order:) He walks right beside me with and with many interruptions he still stays next too me.

He is well know at the softball fields when my daughter is playing travel ball. We can cheer for the girls and he gets excited with us and when we cheer for his mommy (Maddie) he gets really excited and barks for her attention! Everyone knows him we can't go anywhere with him without people falling in love with him. If I was given a dollar for each time I am asked what kind of dog is he, where did you get him and how much would you sell him for? I would be a millionaire in the 10 months we had him. No one could ever give us enough money for him he is definitely not going anywhere:)

He is so special! He goes absolutely everywhere with us and we love it. We even sneak him into the different hotel when we travel for softball which is almost every weekend, he is so good no one knows he is even with us or Evan in the room. Thanks to the doggy travel bags!!! So with all this said he is the most unique dog we have ever had, even his looks are unique and so very special to us as a family...

Sincerely,
The Crane Family

Male Maltipom - Bodhi

by Tara
(South Carolina)

Bodhi (Maltipom)

Bodhi (Maltipom)

Bodhi, the male Maltipom, is 3 months and 3 weeks old today! He is a very smart dog, and loves learning tricks and being groomed! He loves treats, and is in LOVE with his mommy!

He is slow to potty-train, and can sometimes be defiant & aggressive. However, using patience & firmness is the best way to teach him - when he's being praised he's SO proud of himself and really lights up!

Bodhi is still teething, so is very prone to chewing. But a quick reminder is all he needs to keep him fixated on his chew-toys.

My Maltipoms eyes are very prone to tear-stains; but we're hoping this stops after he has finished teething! (Any tips?)

His fur is mostly all-white with lightly tanned ears. His ears haven't decided which breed they will favor, the Maltese or the Pomeranian. They have been floppy, and stood erect- though currently we have ONE floppy and ONE erect ear. (Will he grow out of this?)

Bodhi requires a lot of grooming; his coat is thick and soft, but we're thinking it will grow longer like a Maltese.

He loves other people/strangers, and animals (regardless of their size). At the same time, he is very protective and attached to me (his mommy!)

I would love to hear more about other Maltipom pet owner's experiences and breed characteristics!

Bodhi
by: Lorraine

My Maltipoo's Marley's ears went through the standing up and then down too when she was a puppy. Both Maltese and Poodle have floppy ears so it was funny to see when they standing up because they are pretty large. I had read some where that has to do with what they eat forming cartlege. After a month or so of me putting them ears down they stayed down. Marley is 3 now and when ever she looks up and her head goes back, her ears stand up so cute.

Bodhi
by: Little Miss Muffit

What an adorable little guy! I don't have a Maltipom, but have a Morkie (Yorkshire/Maltese) who resembles Bodhi except for the Pomeranian straight type hair on Bodhi. So cute! Anyhow, Muffit's ears had a problem, too. And she had the one up/one down look Bodhi has. My groomer said if I wanted standup ears like a Yorkie, that she would trim the tips (hair) short. It worked. One ear flops when she is tired, but I love it. Otherwise, they stand erect all the time. As for tear stains, Muffit is mostly white with a hint of tan so tear stains were a problem. Angel Tears has worked wonderfully well for her. I keep her eyes cleaned when I groom her and brush her teeth. I've also heard that using a "really good" brand of dog food helps as well as giving them distilled water. I feed her a good brand, but have not bothered with distilled water. Muffit looks very good. Good luck with your sweet little dog.
