Maltese Poodle Mixes - Lacey Lou

by Angela Holbrook
(Waverly, Ohio USA)

I got my beautiful Maltese Poodle mix Lacey two years ago. I took her in from a breeder who no longer wanted her because she had owned her six months and Lacey never went in heat. She decided she was no longer worth keeping.

She is the sweetest most caring and loving dog I have ever had. My Lacey is also a very smart girl. Whenever she wants something (go out to potty, attention, food, go to bed, go bye, bye, etc....) She stands on her hind legs and moves both paws in a circular motion it is the most adorable thing.

Lacey is also very tolerant to small children that come to visit (you know how young children try to maul and play a little rough with dogs) she has never once growled, barked or attempted to bite them, or anyone else for that matter.

She loves company. I've never seen a person yet she doesn't like. I think if she thought I was in danger though she would protect me. My husband and I was playing one day and he started tickling me and I yelled help to my daughter and there comes Lacey up to us growling. I told her it's ok and she went and laid back down. I was amazed, I had never heard her do that before.

Lacey is also very tolerant to other animals I have two cats and two other dogs she loves playing with the dogs and on several occasions I have seen one of the cats cuddling up with her sleeping. I have NO complaints with Lacey at all she is the perfect dog. I recommend everyone get a Maltipoo and enjoy this wonderful breed.

PS, It's been over two years since I got Lacey and she still has never went in heat, but I love her for her not her ability to have puppies.

Spay your pets! NEW
by: Anonymous

It strikes me as so weird you guys are all saying you "don't mind" if she doesn't go into heat. Millions of wonderful, adorable dogs are being killed in this country every year because people are not spaying and neutering their dogs and the population is out of control. Please DO NOT BREED YOUR PETS! Go the shelter and adopt a fabulous dog like I did (twice) or go through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder if you absolutely must have a certain breed.

respose to your questions
by: Angela

Believe it or not my Lacey weighs 15 pounds. I've heard thats a little more then what they normally weigh but the vet says her weight is fine. I know she's full grown but I have no idea how old she is because the previous owner got her from a puppy mill and they claim they don't remember. I will submit a picture of her asap. Your Zoe sounds like a beautiful puppy. I'm sure she'll grow up to be a wonderful dog and steal your heart as lacey has mine.

How big is Lacey?
by: Anonymous

We got our maltipoo about a month ago. EVERYONE
loves her and she loves everyone, just like your
Lacey. Zoe was born June 21, 2008; she now weighs only 2.8 pounds. She has straight spikey
white hair, except for one peach colored ear. We
think she will probably not get much bigger than 5 pounds. How big is Lacey? Do you have a picture? She sounds wonderful. I think maltipoos are great dogs, too.

My Cooper is one of the most energetic Maltese Poodle mixes and could be the poster child for Red Bull because he acts like he has drank a case of them!!

Cooper is always on the go. His favorite things to do are playing with squeaky toys and digging. He is now one year and three months old.

Cooper and Samantha
by: Anonymous

Cooper looks almost exactly like our Samantha, who is almost a year and a half. They could easily be brother and sister. She too is energetic, and can jump almost five feet straight up. She also loves to walk across rooms on her hind legs. Her antics are so entertaining. Needless to say she has worked her way into our hearts forever.

I got my Maltese Poodle from the shelter. He is the best dog I have ever owned. I changed his name and he learned it in two days.

I taught him to sit in ONE day! Nikko is a very smart dog. Or should I say that Maltese Poodle mixes are a very loving and smart breed. If you love dogs, you should get one. I have only had Nikko nine days and I am hooked!

Maltese Poodle Mixes - Reggie

by Jourdan
(Atlanta GA)

I first got one of the best Maltese Poodle mixes when he was 12 weeks old from a breeder in Ga. Reggie was born on March 20, 2007. She would call me and update everyday on his growing progress. I was so excited because I wanted an apricot and cream colored puppy. We went through 3 different liters with 3 different Poodles until my baby came! On the way home, Reggie rode in my lap and snuggled his little head in the crease of my elbow and we bonded instantly. He was little weighing only 4lbs In the months to come I would soon discover the joys and pains of pet parenthood.

Reggie is now almost 2 yrs old and 7lbs. He is very very smart and loves to be cuddled and spoiled. At night, when we're sleeping Reggie cuddles up behind my knees and in the curve of my stomach and snores or he will climb to the top of my pillow and sleep on top of my head! He very passionate and does everything I do. If I'm sleeping, he's sleeping. If I'm running, he's running he even wants to take a bath when I'm in the bath! Lol!! He loves company and babies and kids although sometimes he gets a little tired and wants to lay and the kids still want to play, Reggie will go run and hide under the couch for solitude.

My entire family loves him! They treat Reggie better than me. When I got deployed(currently still am) everyone asked "Who's gonna keep Reggie? I'll do it!!!" My mother has him and she says he sits by the door and sleeps on a pair of slippers i left home...whenever I call home, she puts me on speaker phone and I talk to him and he whimpers and tries to lick the phone and bring toys to it.. I miss my poo!

Reggie also looves to watch me cook! He will lay on the floor in front of the kitchen (he will never come in unless I tell him to-good doggie!) and watch everything I do until I'm done.

He hates to he left alone..when I would leave for work, he would go hide in the pile of stuffed animals in my room so that he would have to go inside the cage while I was gone. It would take me forever to find him because he blended in! Or if i was going out with the girls he would sit by the door and block me from going out. It's like he's a little person.

I have 10 months before I go home to see my family and Reggie. I just hope he doesn't forget me!

Breeder Name if possible
by: Anonymous

Hi,

I'm looking for a reputable maltipoo breeder and you're dog is so intelliegent and I love to get the name of the breeder so I can purchase one in the future. HOw did you pick your puppy? Is it by the color or just the way it behaves? I love to get a great dog who's so cute and smart. Did it take long to housebreak it? Does it chew on any furniture? My last dog was awesome, she rarely chew on any furnitures and so well behaved.

Thank you so much for your help and I would appreciated the breeder name and the website so I can contact the breeder.

My family is looking forward to a new addition in the family and we were considering getting a puppy in the spring so the kids have summer vacation to spend more times with the dog.

thanks again.

Sydnie the Maltese Poodle Mix

by Colleen
(Scottsdale, AZ)

Prancing like a little rock star!

Prancing like a little rock star!

Sydnie is a sweet, sweet dog. She's going through her puppy stage where she wants to meet everyone and chew on their fingers and toes. She's learning that doesn't feel so good to anyone else.

She loves to be with you... whether it be she's laying in your lap, laying next to you in bed, on the floor or just being close by you.

We are learning how to potty train her (she's not getting it that well...she gets the "let's go potty" when we are outside, but when she is in the house, she'll go anywhere, and even 5 minutes after the last time!) So, that is a work in progress and I'm sure we'll get there soon.

She's only been with us for 2 weeks and she is still so little, 11 weeks old and 2lbs. She is such a sweetheart, though. She loves to be held and likes to stand like a human on her hind legs and "dance".

We love her! I'd appreciate any help on making sure we are training her the best way for her breed. Everyone seems to have their own way that works and I want to make sure we do what is best for her!

Curious!
by: Jessica, NM

Hi, I am wanting to get a maltipoo this summer! but I have been noticing the difference between coats, and I am curious if it just depends on the dog or not. I love your dog's coat, do you keep it that way by getting it groomed, or is it natural? I am searching for one with a more wavy and fluffy coat, not as tight and curly as some of them look. Thanks! cute dog!

There is hope!
by: Karen

Every one raves about crate training - you can find good movies online if you google it. We have a maltipoo mix with other stuff:T-leaf! She's 15 weeks now but trained quite easily once we realised she chose the places she wanted to go. We put paper in those places and also in the place WE wanted her to go and then gradually reduced them to just our choice. If we caught her sniffing we always took her to the right place. We first gave her treats just for making the paper and then only treats when she went to our chosen place for her. She always got praise when she did it right. We still have the odd accident - they say up to 6 months that can happen, but mostly she goes by choice to her designated area now. We still work with treats when we are with her but sometimes she goes and we haven't noticed- so then she comes to us for her treat! Be encouraged - they do get it eventually - just figure out what they're doing already and start from there to redirect them.

Riley - Maltese Poodle Mix Breed

by Kathy

Riley lounging on the patio

Riley lounging on the patio

Riley is a Maltese Poodle mix breed or Maltipoo. He is very strong willed and so intelligent. It's Riley's way or no way.

We talk to him constantly. He is my constant companion. He loves to smooch and give hugs. He is very affectionate.

Riley enjoys frequent walks, lounging in the sun on a warm day and Bedtime! Occasionally he likes to sample dirt from my plants. The attached photo has caught him playing in my flower pot.

He really does have the life of Riley! We were truly blessed when Riley came into our home.

Maltese Poodle Mix - Tara

by Deb Zorn

My Baby Tara

My Baby Tara

My husband and I adopted what we thought and paid for a full bred Maltese... a few weeks later realized she was a Maltese Poodle mix (this was in 1998) but no matter she won our hearts forever.

My husband died in 2003 and Tara lost her zest for life.I moved back to Maine to be near my family and soon she realized she had a mission... to make my family love a doggie and that they did.

I let my Tara go and be with her Daddy today after months of struggling with CHF. Attaching a picture of her just shy of 12 yrs and as always
loving her picture taken no matter how she was feeling.

Please enjoy the picture of my Maltese Poodle princess. She was the light of my life!!!

Our Love
by: Lynn

I am so sorry to hear about your Tara. I purchased my Booney a year after I had my stroke. He was and is the best medicine!! He has brought me so much joy, love, laughter, and happiness. He is on "time-share" with my parents. They fell in love with him just as I did so I certainly do not mind sharing Booney. Again, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Do you think you will be getting another? I suggest that you do. Like I said, they are the best medicine!!
Sending you much love.

I was where you are today just a few months ago. Slowly the hurting will hea; but the love and the piece of your heart that she took with will stay where they are until you and Tara are together again. She is now young and healthy and happily awaiting your reunion. She never really left you, she will always be there in Spirit. May you at times get a glimse or a feeling that she is near as I have with my Abby. Such comfort, so much love. God is with you all.

Her bossy-ness won us over back more than 11 years ago in her past life in Florida...luckily she followed my favorite Ant to Maine , and was still BOSS here !! I love you Tara - girl. Maltepoo - Lexi

by Kim Renner
(Greencastle, PA)

I got my Maltepoo when she was 3 months old. She is the most loveable, cuddly dog ever! She is so much like a kid. If i'm up and about all day cleaning or whatever, she will not lay down to nap or anything. I've tried putting her in her crate, but if she knows I'm at home she will whine until i take her back out of her crate. So she just follows me from room to room while I'm doing my cleaning, laundry or whatever I'm doing. It is just so cute knowing she wants to be wherever I'm at,at all times.

Also, my granddaughter has a bean bag chair at my house and it stays on the floor in front of the fireplace. Well if I'm sitting in it, she will lay on floor beside the chair, but as soon as i get up to go get something to drink or something, she will hurry and jump in the chair and lay down and when she sees me coming she will look at me as if... haha, I'm in the chair now. If she's resting or napping by me, and i get up, she will follow me. I just love it!

If we are watching TV and night and we think its time for her to go potty, my husband will say, lets go potty, and she will get away from him and come to me to take her out. She's just so use to me all day.

I love to dress her in all different things and she loves it to. I take pictures of her all the time. I get teased alot by family and friends saying, "You would think i gave birth to the dog", all because of the way i treat her as if she's my baby girl. But you can't help it. She loves kids and just everybody that comes around. She loves the sun. Its winter time now, but when the sun is shinning and if i open the blinds or even my front door and the sun shines in, she will lay there where the sun is. If your thinking of getting a Maltepoo... you will NOT regret it! They love kisses to =)

Faithful
by: Little Miss Muffit

Little Miss Muffit is a Yorkie/Maltese mix just turned five mos. old weighing in at about 6 lbs.
She acts like your little cutie. She follows me around the house or wherever unless she has something she isn't supposed to have--then it's "grab & run." Sometimes I feel bad if she is curled up beside me or in my lap when I need to do something else because I hate to wake her up. Muffit loves me, but she loves everybody as well. My husband is always greeted in the mornings by Muffit who climbs up on his lap, then his chest and shoulders and ends up on his bald head to give him kisses. It's way cute! These little dogs are so happy and so loveable! How did we ever get along without them?

Maltese Poodle Mixes - Tetley and Okaley

I would like to tell you about both of my wonderful Maltese Poodle mixes. My beloved Tetley passed away a couple of months ago at 15.5 years. He was the most beautiful dog in the world and very intelligent. He was not too friendly, but was so cute and well liked despite his moodiness. He had a Maltese coat and face and the longest eyelashes.

We got Oakley last year and he is adorable too, not as beautiful as Tetley as he resembles a poodle, but he has a wonderful temperament and very smart. He is very loving--similar to my Bichon but a lot smarter!
